Controversial Cronulla Shark Andrew Fifita has allegedly been caught up in an explosive confrontation with another motorist on Sunday afternoon. Police were told the 25-year-old prop allegedly threw an object at a Subaru traveling behind him at Taren Point, then later got out of his car making verbal threats and punching and kicking the other vehicle driven by a 23-year-old on Captain Cook bridge.Police say the alleged victim of the road rage attack reported the incident to Miranda police, with Fifita later arriving at the station to make a statement.
“Both vehicles stopped on Taren Point Road. The 25-year-old allegedly made threats and punched and kicked the vehicle causing some damage to it,” Acting Inspector Stuart said. The former NSW State of Origin representative was not arrested, however police are considering charges as the matter is still under investigation.
This latest incident caps off a troubled year for Fifita, having had an $800,000 a season contract torn up by the Canterbury Bulldogs, then enduring a 10-day stay in hospital with an injured eye, before suffering a broken arm in last week's loss to the New Zealand Warriors, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2014 NRL season.
