Sheens biggest mistake all year

Started in game 1 trained molts and benji at half and 5/8 for probably 6 months in the off season but went in with an untested fullback and no backup plan lose Ted and instead of finding another number 1 move one of the most important positions that you have trained around all year and we all know the merry-go-round that then happened

Sunday Tedesco goes down for the season, Monday Mitch Brown is released to the Dogs.

Sheens biggest mistake this year is the fact he hasn't learnt fom the mistakes he made in prior years

Things like
No recognized 7
Playing Benji @7
Playing Farah @7
Playing Rowdy@6
Making 6 changes to cover one player
Not being accountable
Having no hard heads to kick these blokes up the butt
Not enough size and speed in the forwards
Not enough back up in speciality positions
No guts to drop underperforming players
Doesn't give the referees what for when they screw up

First off, we lost our halfback in the offseason (Robert Lui). You can't blame Sheens for that. Then we lost our fullback 30 minutes into the season. You can't blame Sheens for that. What you can hold him responsible for is the decision to move Moltzen back to fullback. It can't have been an easy decision, the alternative presumably was to move Ryan to fullback, but Moltzen had at that stage played more fullback than Ryan, and we seemed to have more options at halfback - Miller and Humble at least.

Miller didn't shape up and Humble wasn't given enough time in many people's opinion. But you can't call what he did stupid, in my opinion. Just because it didn't work out in the end, doesn't make it a stupid decision in the first place.

With Humble at 7 we lost in G point to Souths and beat Penrith and Parra, he never got a shot after that. I thought that was stupid. We used 5 other half options after that.

Smartest post I have read on here for a while… Thank you Cobbs

In round 4 our halfback moved to fullback, the guy named to play fullback (Humble) was moved to the bench. Also on the bench was a specialist fullback in Meaney.

Makes no sense.

Those criticising Miller are clearly basing their opinions of him on his NRL performances.

He played origin for NSW under 20's this year, he was good enough for first grade from Round 1\. So to was Koroibete.

Furthermore, Moltzen has played halfback several times beforevwith success. He trained all off-season at halfback. Lui is not a factor in that aspect.

We would have made the finals if Moltzen was kept at 7 & benji at 6.

Fact is, we lost a fullback and failed to replace him with a fullback all year, but it stupidly lead to regular shuffling in the halves which just makes no sense whatsoever.

Now your dreaming… There is no guarantee's we would have made anything with that Halves Combination.

We 'could' have won the Wooden Spoon if we kept Moltzen at 7 and Benji at 6, but I guess we will never know?!

Not sure how many of you in the main forum watch any NSW Cup games…..But 2 more options in there for fullback with Tim Simona and Jy Hitchcox. Both have played well enough this season to have been given same game time in NRL esp with players underperforming

For what ever reason sheens inability to drop under performing players. You have to send a loud clear message to your playing group what you expect and what they can expect if they dont reach this level. He did have plenty of things go against him early in the season, but you know the tough get going when the going gets tough, and you know barring Woods Farah Bell and Fulton they were SOFT

Not dreaming at all. Lui in 2010 wasn't all that good, we still made the finals. Moltzen in 2012 at halfback would have been performing between 2010 Lui and 2011 Lui. A settled halves combo would have got us to the top 8.

Sutton and a kid with no NRL experience made the top 4 ffs!

We had no direction all year and it came from having an unsettled halves combo for the entirety of the year.

we had no direction with him at half either.he was non existent at half.
he has always been a passenger at 7.
he either runs with the ball or he passes it 10 yards before the line and continues the side to side movement.
he never draws in defenders and then passes.
contributes nothing in the kicking game either.

moltzen is nowhere close to lui as a half in attack.
in defense,moltzen is better.

the form of benji with lui was also better as he wasn't the lone playmaker in the backline.
