Sheens has lost it, what next?

I looked at the current list of coaches in the NRL and Sheens is easily in the top 5\. A lot of people here wanted Steven Kearney as coach a few years ago (I think we dodged a bullet there but to be fair to him he has very little talent to work with at the Eels).

I think Sheens still comes up with great game plans that when we follow them we get the results. Look I get frustrated with his use of the interchange bench as much as anyone. For mine a back utility on the bench is wasted unless you send that player on for a 10-20 minute stint in the forwards.

Personally I fell that Sheens may have been at the one club for too long. He won a comp by taking risks on young unproven players and he has stuck to a core of them since. Look I have no doubt about his ability to coach but sometimes I feel both parties may be suited to him moving to another side at the end of this year (he would get another NRL job very easily if he wanted to move clubs). Off course if he gets us into the top 4 again I would not be unhappy if he stayed either.

I still don't know who I think could be suitable to replace him with. All I know is that Tim Shines from the time he was appointed has turned this club around and has helped put in and maintain structures that should help our club for many years to come.

I'd hate to work for you!

We run top 4 in consecutive years, you lose 2 games and you want to punt him.

2 yrs ago i would have agreed with every single word. We went 4 seasons without a finals appearence, and premiership or not, not many coaches survive missing the finals 4 consecutive yrs these days, i'd challange anyone to find another coach who has gone that long at another club and survived. But the last 2 yrs he has finally gotten results which shouldn't be ignored. He still frustrates the hell out of me with that bench though. I don't know of any other coach who religiously carries a winger on the bench every week just to cover for an injury in the backline. At least go with a utility who can cover the halves, or a back up for for Farah, who can give Robbie a 15 min break. He has gotten results the last two yrs, but he is still as stubborn as ever

Ha ha. It was evident in you arrogance that your not.Read the posts I'm not the only one with that view Balmain boy. Either way we love the same team let's just agree to disagree and get on with it Campbelltown people really are not that stupid we just act it as the players that come from the area

im at blacktown mate and i didn't call you stupid….i just figured you would have been a old Wests fan as they seem to be the majority that don't like sheens.lol

Fair enough I'm not from Campbelltown but that's not the reason I do or don't like Shenious and yes i was a Wests fan but proudly A Wests Tigers fan. Just his decisions not only now but over the years wow !!! either way go Tiges( Blacktown GWS lol) Were wasting space on this forum talk to you on another one soon. Cheers mate go to CSS Monday!!!Cheer the boys on

I'm sure Sheens has said in the past that this game is not always about winning (or similar to those words).

That philosophy is the biggest difference between him and the fans that continually want to punt him.

With every other club it's all about winning.
Honestly he had it pretty easy the years he got nothing out of the team - if it had have been any other club he would have been punted.

I agree Sheens had it pretty easy in those years when results were below par and everyone was still living off the GF win, I'm just pointing out the difference in philosophies. Coaches gain respect and loyalty from players through different means whether it is man management, work ethics, etc. Sheens shows (rewards) his core group of players so much loyalty that we don't always agree with it, but that's part of his coaching style.
