Sheens has lost it, what next?

come on x thats the probelm yeah same coach in 05 theres the problem he has been here far too long the joints gone stale hes gone stale players are complacent no one gets dropped. there style of football is like a mad womans poo no structure no defense harem scarem footy two green kids both overated .as i said in many other threads along this one they have worked us out and our luck has run out only so many times you can get out of jail. our luck has run out. i would sooner watch the old balmain sides from 80s that gutsed it out for eighty were not always best team on paper but you knew you were in a game. this namby pamby style does not wash anymore. we have become predictable. and oh so easy to netrulize.

Sheens has done pretty well in the last two years.

My main issue with him has always been the same: refuses to drop players despite constant underperformance, poor bench selection, ridiculous interchange policy.

But one of the reasons we won so many games in a row at the end of last year was because he stuck with the same players. I do agree sometimes he leaves some poor performers in too long but chopping and changing your team after every bad loss doesn't help at all. And with all the injuries we've had it is probably even a bigger reason to retain as many experienced players as possible.

Besides, who is really pounding down the door demanding selection from the state cup teams?

Becoming?
Youre only new round here eh?
Stubborn's his middle name

But really, we went into the season with a young promising fullback, and an experienced prop, both got hurt - it happens

And a second rower I'm pretty sure would of pushed up if he was fit also (Ellis) You can 't beat injuries to key players in the age of the salary cap

I think Damo may have a point… I have watched our 3 games closely over a couple of times, and we cant simply rule out that opposition coaches have worked us out. Its not like we have a few different levels and considering everyone knows its the Farah & Marshall Show, it isnt that hard to work out.

Our Centres are being well contained by the opposition this year. I feel this is contributed because of the continual sideways movement, but I'm seeing defenders double team our centres with ease. We no longer have an X Factor playing outside Lawrence and this gives defenders time to mark up on Rowdy. Rowdy needs to change to make the difference.

Our Hooker isnt getting the room he likes and its obvious by his limited runs. Defenders are most definately not standing square when Robbie is scheming and as much as we whinge about them being off-side, this is not going to stop until the Referee's decide to crack down on this behaviour. Robbie needs to look for a new string to his bow if he is going to get us going forward or our Ball-Runners need to stop trying to go through the line and work on getting quicker play-the-balls.

While they are young, the last 2 weeks was an easy one to contain our Props. Bash Em and see what they have. Increase line speed in defence and create quicker play-the-balls in attack. As a result, Woods & Groat are going backwards due to the pace of the game and its pretty evident Groat is struggling the most.

All these things are constructed by the Opposition. We need to look for new ways to build momentum and the starting point must be Tim Sheens. We are offering nothing new and we are easy to work out. The Finger pointing should be going in one direction until we see something new!

We will have to see a different game plan this week with no Farah.
Marshall has been doing all the kicking in the last few games (Farah kicked about 3 times last week and Moltzen once) and that is one thing that really has to change this week or Canberra will nullify Marshall all night.
Sheens might finally take the shackles off a few players and let them play to their abilities .
He's the coach - time to come up with a few ideas and earn his keep!

He lets Folkes go when he toughened us up, making the top 4 two years in a row.

I find this hilarious - Folkes as the trainer had more impact on our team than Sheens as the coach. It is the 2nd time I have seen this on this forum as well. Is this a massive gee-up because there cannot be any logic behind this surely.

As for Sheens losing it - his team selections have always been pretty poor however his coaching seems pretty good. I mean we can turn it on and win some tough games, the club rarely gets bad press and the players appear to like him.

This season has been terrible but the losses really come down to the players on the field and I don't think the selections have been that poor. Fulton at hooker might actually be a good idea - hopefully our defence around the middle improves.

Still I'd like to think that a change at some point happens because I think his time must be coming to an end. I just hope we get someone better not worse.

You criticise him for playing 2 young props, but then you say its a mistake to not play an even younger hooker alongside them in the area we were most dominated last game? And since when did Sheens decide to let Folkes go, or have the power to release ANY coach from there contract for that matter. I think its a tad early in the season for a thread like this

I'm not bagging our young props, we let experienced props go. Hooker is a specialist position, replace with another hooker, not a makeshift one. And Sheens could have kept Folkes if the deal was right, he chose not to. And in our case the coach has all the power in the world. Hope that clears it all up.

We let experienced props go due to salary cap issues. BTW i noticed Gibbs didn't play on Monday night for the Sharks….injured again or dropped? Word around here last year was that Bryce has a chronic knee injury. Sheens has to look to the future and decided to keep Woods who has been outstanding and Groat who was Australian Schoolboy prop ( someone correct me if i'm wrong) He wasn't to know Galloway would suffer another injury nor Ellis and now suspension to Farah. Three very experienced players gone. Had Ellis departed at the end of last year, i'm sure Gibbs or Fafita would have been kept. Fulton has been named at hooker for his experience and workrate, whether he starts there or not will be another thing. Nobody has a crystal ball mate, and Sheens is trying to keep the Tigers strong well after this year, a job that every supporter of this club would expect of him.

Like Farah said numerous times last year, judge how the Tigers have performed after the long weekend in October, not after 3 rounds.

the biggest loss in the off season was losing steve folkes,he made us a more mentally and physiclly tougher side, last 2 years we played with more aggresion and were mentally tougher than previous years, was sheens worried that folkesy was going to take his job cos of the succes we had while he was here, bad move west tigers managment

Canterbury let him go too - life goes on.
Here's some news- he wasn't the coach!
Next thing everybody will be blaming Georgalis for turning us into losers. :crazy

I really have a problem with the continuing selection of Moltzen anywhere in the team. He contributes nothing. He is the most overrated and possibly the worst player currently playing first grade.

Col , you've said exactly the same thing 400 times in about 100 different threads.
I don't know what he did to you or how much he owes you but next time can you try not to cut and paste and word it a little differently . :blah

Ck when it comes to Moltzen col is like a bull at a red rag, if col thinks Moltzen is the worst player in the nrl he obviously doesn't see any other side play, we all know that…
Tigermanic in ur first thread u illuded to the fact sheens taught Royce nothing, so Royce goes to England, gets sacked, and that's still sheens' fault????
Some ppl here r unbelievable, talk about a scapegoat! Many elite coaches have learnt from sheens footy brain,
Laurie Daley as a player- coaches Country
Sticky as a player - GF winner, nsw, Australia
Bellamy was there too under sheens - now considered one of the best!
Just because Royce failed how do u blame sheens u goose!
And folkes didn't get 'let go', he's a grown man, he left to persue assistant coaching job at dragons. His decision nobody else's!

I get the impression I'm being played here. Folkes is a greater loss than Gibbs, Fifita or Lui ?

This cannot be serious. I'm pretty confident that I could train the players as good or pretty close to it as Folkes. I'm very confident that whoever we have as trainer now has exactly the same impact on us winning games as Folkes would have had - not much.
