I think you might of forgotten Sir Darren Lockyer… The only player in World Rugby League to be annointed the 'King' since The great Wally Lewis... Arhhh Queensland, they can produce them hey!!! (Even Benji would qualify for the Maroons if they allowed Kiwi's to play Origin)

Lockyer is over rated… and as for Benji in Moron colours, Why not you got heaps of kiwis in your squad already.

Brad Thorn
The Chin Tony Carrol
Hunt
Teo

Any more of late I have missed?

Fien apparently?! 😕 All came through Queensland based development programs, so why shouldn't they be allowed to play for The Mighty Maroons…

Aarhh Queensland... Beautiful one day, owns Rugby League the next

Where's that "vomit" emoticon when you need it!!!

Maybe he should have kept last week's side, did a lot better than tonight's team. Hmmm, if a WT player can win it for the Kiwis, maybe a WT player could have won it for the Aussies. We will never know….....again.

as much as i love lote he should have never ever been picked he was woeful tonight and to be honest done nothing all tournement no lawrence no farah no carney no young or boyd that aussie side these kids shold of been inthe side should be renamed dads army

Slater is the biggest myth!!!

While he is considered by the media as one of the best players in the word and was lauded for his pace and running game - his attacking stats are abyssmal for his position!

While every fullback worth their salt makes well over 100 metres per game - in 2010 he averaged 101.4m compared to the likes of young Nathan Gardner from Cronulla (141.9) - Hayne (167.4) - Dugan (158) - Coote (128.2) - Hohaia (119) - Mini (120.4) - Boyd (143.1) - Hoffman (144.4) - Wesser (121.9) - and even McKinnon for the Tigers (152.8)!!!

His forte is offloads with 29 for the year - that is not a fullback's job!

As a secondary ball-player those stats might not paint the full picture - but his inept ball-playing before the line has now cost Australia two major international titles!

Hodgo could play as an extra 5/8th - Slater struggles!

It is time for him to go - Qld can have him!!!!

Slaters biggest problem in my book is he is prone to making a simple mistake every now and then. That one tonight although it didn't directly cost us, certainly didn't help us. For me he just makes a few too many errors like that (maybe 1 ever 3-4 games), enough that it sticks in my head.

u can probably say the same about benji…

I always thought that Australias problem was that they picked an old team on reputations rather then form. I think it's become obvious that Lockyer is no longer the best man for the job, it's time to give some younger blokes ago. I also think Dugan and hayne are much more dangerous these days then Slater. And what has happened to B.Morris lately, is it just me or has he gone very quiet?
On a different note I felt very sorry for Tate to see him breaking down like that and really hope we havnt seen the last of him, poor guy.

alien - Slater directly cost us the 2008 World Cup Final!!

I am old-school but plenty of my mates also believed he had punched his "Never-to-be-Selected-Again" card for the 'Roos in '08 - but the Qld Origin dominance has ensured his incumbency was maintained without challenge.

Let's face it - NSW have offered no better contenders - but Darius deserved the national no. 1 for this tournament!

I also believe that the ARL continue to pay-back Billy on the basis of wrongfully picking Brett Stewart ahead of him in 2007 despite Billy blitzing his dazed opposite in the GF!!!!

It was as if the powers that be chose to reward the Manly player with an Australian jersey to compensate for their inaction on Crocker's well-timed - but nonetheless reckless hit on Brett (note at that time the NRL were more than happy to see Melbourne win their second title in order to boost a flagging local market)!

Slater rarely takes on the line anymore (given his great NRL 06-08 club form)! He has become a better player on paper than he is on the field!!! That says it all!

As for Benji being in the same league of diamonds & bricks - Benj throws a hell of alot more at the opposition - and also from the halves - he takes greater personal ownership of our successes & failures!

One question to you alien - did you ever feel that Slater had a play in him to finish off NZ late in the game when you were so concerned about Marshall doing the same for his team??

Sheens should have kept the new-look Kangaroos, we may have had a chance. The team tonight looked old, slow and tired.

Locky still played a magnificent hand for Qld in Origin this year - but Benji easily shrugged him off twice tonight and his spark was missing!

A true legend whose time has elapsed at the international level!

It did look old, slow and tired, they looked a lot better in attack the previous week.

Australia had a lot of players that weren't in finals contention this year. I wonder if that effected their enthusiasm and hunger, maybe they clocked off weeks ago, who knows.

The Kiwis try-scorers all played the Grand Final along with their man of the match and Benji played all but one game this year. It is a telling statistic now.

Benji did not miss a game this year! He played 34 games - more than any other NRL player!

He means he could have played 35 games ( if Tigers made the GF). not that it makes a difference but still a GF is a GF.
