Sheens Quits WT

There's no chance that Sheens will want a job that isn't head coach.

Depends how much he likes money. That's always the question when someone gets sidelined - do you turn up and keep collecting a paycheck for doing stuff-all or do you decide your pride is more important and quit.

Following the completion of a review of the 2012 season, the Board of Wests Tigers has decided to restructure the Club’s Football Operations. This restructure will include the appointment of a new NRL Coach for 2013.
Chairman David Trodden said that current Head Coach Tim Sheens has made an enormous contribution to the Club over the last ten years.
“Tim has been the most influential figure in the Club’s 13 year history,” Trodden said.
“He came to a Club that had not enjoyed success and was struggling to establish itself.”
"Tim has established professional structures and built a foundation from which there is now a genuine expectation of sustained success.
"He was the Coach of our first ever Premiership winning team and for all of those reasons he will always have a special place in the history of our Club.
“The last ten days have been particularly difficult for everyone and the one thing which has shone through has been the dignified and professional manner in which Tim has conducted himself.
“We are very keen for Tim to continue with our Club in a senior role as part of our restructure.
“We will now embark on the process of selecting the coach of the Wests Tigers NRL side in 2013.
“This is clearly a critically important task that we will manage carefully and professionally over the coming weeks.”
A sub-committee has been formed to lead this process which will commence immediately.

A very good release from Stephen Humphreys. Probably deserves its own thread… Certainly answers a great deal of the questions he's been posed on this forum

We still have no coach and sheens is to stay.Apart from 15 minutes of complete dribble what was found out.Im talking facts not deflective dribble.

…. just throwing it out there but perhaps Timmy's contract wasnt watertight enough and as long as there is a role there of some desctription for him, if he leaves the club it will be his doing rather than the club punting him. Hence avoiding a payout.

there is nothing more certain than sheens will not be part of wt in 2013 basically in a nut shell we cant offord the pay out so offer him a role he is certain not to take,in hope he accepts the warriors job or retires no pay out ect if things were otherwise sheens would have fronted the presser also.

Humphreys said he's been working on a new role with Sheens the past few days, so he was already sacked.

It will depend on how all of this settles as to what decision he makes.

We are in a position right now where a man of Tim Sheens ability, standing in the game and extensive knowledge could be used in excellent effect leading a development department to rival the Western Sydeny Academy in terms of drawing in players and honing them. We have a massive junior catchment and also seek to bring the best from as far afield as required and to have a man like Tim Scouting, developing and laying in systems could set us up for decades to come.

In the end the decision will of course be his but I for one hope he takes on that kind of role within the club

In closing all I can do is again thank Tim for everything he has bought to the club, the legacy he leaves and the enourmous amount of time he has put into his work here

This is a pol on the Herald's site.

WERE THE TIGERS RIGHT TO REMOVE TIM SHEENS?

YES - 56%
NO - 44%

Totals votes: 427.

The neutral NRL fan has no idea what's going on at the club.

If Tim really did verbally assure the board that if he missed finals he would quit, maybe the club are examining there legal options?

Agreed - that is rock solid. Surprised but impressed to see him comment about player movements.

Hopefully he can continue to keep members informed with that level of detail until a full-time Head coach is installed.

My gut feeling is he will stay and Todd Payten will take the reins…

I love the Big Hombre but wouldn't he have the same problem of being too much in the boy's club? He is only an ex-teammate by one season for most of these guys.

I think Payten will be a great coach but a Head role is many years away yet.

i personally dont believe a thing humpty says tbh
if he says he has the utmost respect for sheens, chances are he will sue him for every penny he has.

i really dont know whether to be happy or unhappy with this. always wanted to see tim sheens go, provided he takes his culture and influence away from the club.

His culture and influence? What are you talking about? Do you mean the fact he only wants clean skins at the club.

The problem with Sheens hasnt been culture, it has simply been stubbornness and loyalty to certain players.

I am happy for the Sheens culture to pervade with the club for ever. I just want a coach who will select players in their genuine positions, makes better use of our bench and is prepared to play the modern football perfected by the Storm and the Dogs (even if I hate that style of football).

or….we don't want him as head coach, but at the moment, we can't pay out the last two years of his contract due to a lack cash reserves in the JV and a lack of shareholder funds to supplement. Therefore, we are trying to put him to work until we have the cash to move him along.

Just trying to look forward in a positive light Gary.

Time will tell where the cards fall though
