Danny Galea
No ones saying it dont happen elsewhere.....the apologists cant help themselves
Laurie. He was good and everyone was calling for him to be given a shot just didn't have the work ethic or discipline to make it.
Dud....always was, still is a dud...hasnt kicked on anywhere else
Cayless. Cheap signing that was worth a shot.
Go buy a cheap $2 spanner....it wont be worth it. Dud
Ohara. Hardly Sheen's fault that he kept getting injured.
He didnt have any footwork, some footwork at the line wouldve given him some longevity imo
Theres a reason he played only ONE origin game- dud
Tandy. For years people on this forum screamed for him to be given a go and when he did he didn't impress again hard to blame sheens for that.
LOL....he was only here for one year - dud
Sattler - LOL...did bugger all here
I mentioned the positives earlier.....maybe a dozen over a decade....much like his less the 50% win ration and 30% semis appearance record......Sheens is a dud, was over rated MASSIVELY everywhere- glad he's gone
Firstly regarding O'Hara - yeah, he only played one ORIGIN game. He was a terrible player, only represented his state once, what a joke.
Moving on - I think people underestimate the importance of players like Michael Buettner and Scott Sattler had on our 2005 success. They were never really going to be superstars on the field at the age and period of their career, but they were bought as role models for the likes of Marshall, Fulton, Farah, Gibbs, Halatau etc to help develop after we got rid of the likes of Hill and Hopoate as senior players. They certainly did that, and I think they were probably worth the money in that sense.
On other recruitment, he bought Prince, Hodgson, Payten, Whatuira, Richards, Galloway, Ellis, Tuqiri, all representative standard players who have had success at the club, while some of the names mentioned earlier on the list were hardly on big money (if on top tier contracts at all) and most of whom were promising youngsters looking to get a chance, but never kicked on. I don't think you can blame him for a guy like Lazarus having two knee recos in two years and losing all confidence in himself, or Jeffery never living up to the hype.
I just don't get the vitriolic Sheens hate on here. The bloke gave these fans their first premiership in 50 years and made the side a genuine premiership threat for the first time in 25 years (probably 40 years for some). Get a grip, he's gone, Potter is here and we're starting again.
