Sheens should retire

He has it in him and that’s why a fresh start is needed. You can see his mind in overdrive trying to keep the Wests Tigers ship from sinking every week. Watch him go if he gets a bit of confidence back.
He is a first grader no doubt about that and I would back him if he stayed but not a player you can bank on to pull a rabbit out of a hat

Adding to that he will have no weight on his shoulders from supporters at manly because they even now believe they are no chance without turbo

Fact
Hastings is 12 months better than brooks beating him to the lamenting posts on the forum
Both poor footballers imo and not what would take us forward
They both could play a role in a steam but cannot do anything on their own
We need someone that can create on their own out of nothing
Neither are that player

again … what’s with the “take us forward”….?

The rest of this season, I would be happy to watch competent halfback play, and at $400k a year that we had Hastings under contract for.. well that sounds pretty good…

They could have kept Hastings(this year) and still looked for the next Andrew Johns “ to take us forward”…in the future

Instead we have non- NRL standard halves in the medium term… the situation is going to be like the back end of last year when they were the zombie team getting belted every week

I don't thnk so Tom.
Our team beat our team that game. I don't think much of it had to do with Hastings. The St Mary's ARes would have beaten us that day!
Was just replying to the previous guy who seems to think that wins or losses are up to the halfback…

Again???
Forward
In the future games as well as improving

I don’t get why people seem to hang on to the players gone
Imo there’s no proof only opinion that Hastings would’ve been better to hold on to

He would be better than the halves playing this week!

You are talking about “the future”. … I’m talking about the present

I don’t know how to make it clearer … he was signed here for 2023 for a dime… why let him go this year and expose your lack of depth?

I have no control over who stays and who goes or why
But what I don’t do is whinge and whine that they should of kept them and insist that they would be better
I just make an effort to move on especially where there’s unknowns

Well… I think that the people making these decisions need to be held accountable…

The decision to move Hastings on for 2023 was a poor one …. And I said so here at the time…

To be clear before anyone else jumps in… I’m not talking about “the future” or “taking us forward “… I’m talking about him playing out his contract this year whilst we are looking for a long term replacement

I agree but the rhetoric at the time was that there would be no Klemmer or Bateman here if Hastings wasn't moved on. Don't know how true all that is, and i would also have liked to see Hastings and Brooks behind this pack but we may not have ever had a chance to have 'this pack' with Hastings in the team.

There's a reason Sheens keeps reiterating that fans need to patient. It's not to be dismissive of our loyalty and ongoing support (and the club's stupid failures) but moreso that there's a process which requires time for pieces to fall into place.
He's been there and done it before. IDC what decades it was but he is the only person at the club who has created/implemented succession plans which have delivered results on the field.
Our board may keep reinventing the wheel, but Sheens has said over and over again that he intends to stay the course (making appropriate adjustments here and there) and build a competitive roster.
No disrespect to any players that have left (or are leaving) but their vacancy allows us to buy players that get us closer to this goal.

There's a strong likelihood our next halves pairing will be young and inexperienced but given we have the likes of Koroisau, Bateman and Klemmer the leadership is adequate IMO to help with the transition.
Competing in the NRL would be enough pressure for them to face so we need to back them (our future halves combo) without placing unrealistic expectations on them. This is where Sheens comes in handy as he's great with public relations and having players mentally prepared.
