Sheens to Benji's aid

TIM SHEENS has been fuming about the criticism of Benji Marshall - that is despite suggestions they have had a major falling-out. Sheens has confided in friends that criticism of Marshall for his form and being an ego out of control is off the mark. Sheens considers it an insult to him and Steve Humphreys that it's been intimated they have been pushed around in some way by Marshall. The leadership has not been great from the Tigers over the last few weeks - and they are in a poor way financially - but to blame Marshall for the club's demise is wrong. If he was on the open market Marshall would be a million-dollar-a-season player. Sheens wouldn't lie and say that he and Marshall are on great terms. Communication between the pair has dropped right off. It's been better with Robbie Farah, who has made an effort to communicate - that is what a captain has to do. Six months ago the thought that Farah would leave the Tigers would have been laughable but after their year from hell, Farah's eyes are now open. The Tigers leader has been keen to settle his future - he wants to do a deal before Christmas and the Eels are deadly serious in their interest.

The longer Humpty & the board leave everything up in the air, unanswered, question marks everywhere hovering around the club…..the longer all this speculation and damaging PR will be published in the media.

Give em something....they'll run with it
Give em nothing.......they'll make it up.

For goodness sake Tigers, wrap everything up in the next week or two at the latest so the team can settle down to the serious work ahead. The vulture journalists will then have to find some other hapless club to rumour monger.

How do "we", the uneducated ones that have no daily contact with the internal conversations, negotiations etc have any idea that the senior management are in fact "leaving everything up in the air"….

Negotiating a player like Farah's contract will be long and protracted giving his standing in the game. Sure there will be an intention to sign however the nuts and bolts will take some time.

Benji and Farah are nice people. however they have to realise, they are professional people and have a job to do. media have their own selfish interest in getting you up there to sell their interest. Likewise their love ones will not want them to get hurt, which is understandable. As pros, they have to get their attitude rigtht. These boys have brains and as soon as they realise this, the team will go forward. As a fan of the tigers for over 50 years, the team gives me pleasure, however the performance last year was way below expectations.Let heino, Ryan, Gibbs and Fifita go, they are history now and may want a change. We will give the under 20s an opportunity and I am sure a few of them will just be as good, if not better and will complement Marshall and Farah. I also like Branasta's atttitude in a losing team. He urges his team mates on to the end. He will be good for the West Tigers. I saw Pettybourne played last year, he will be a assist, with his no frills play.I look forward to our new coach and his team of stars(super) to me. Here comes the West Tigers…...

Farah has said numerous times that he wants his next contract sorted by Xmas. If he was to leave, I wouldn't blame Farah but management for failing to meet his needs. There's not many players out there that you can build a club around but in my view Farah is one of them. I doubt the Sharks would ever let Gallen go or the Storm let Smith go if they wanted to stay. Once the new coach is announced, retaining Farah will be the first thing the club will be trying to do I'd say.
