Sheens won't rush to pick new kicker

The equation is simple , Get the tries closer to the post and success rate at kicking will be higher.. Some players just fall over the line because they see the try line in front of them , they sould try improving the kick positon if that can be helped. Benji cant kick like JT , El masari or Soward but he can kick better than most.So a little help from his team mates will help build his confidence too..

On the subject of Hodgo , i have said for sometime now , that was the worst ever decison the club made to let him go.
Who in the real mind lets a great captain go , one who used to lift the team , kick for the team and most importantly never gave up trying. :imp:

I was at both games that Lazo played and Sheens did not just slot him to FB.

He moved him all over the place throughout both games… trying to hide him in defense I guess.

Really their is no other choice, Farah is a part time kicker at best and **Lawrence did not convince me he is any better**

The one he got wasn't much of a strike, he didn't appear to have a lot of follow through, could be down to fatigue or confidence. Still it’s a big ask for anyone else to step up given the situation and the number of tries we score out wide

You really should look very closely next time you watch a game….if their is any chance they can improve the position they will, but scoring the try and getting the ball down safely is first & foremost the most important thing, its not as simple as you make it out to be

Just to assist with the depression:

If Benji was kicking 80%, he'd have kicked 64 goals instead of 48, making a difference of 32 points, giving us a current for/against of 34 instead of 2!! (Given my maths is correct.)

As if. Goalkicking is important. Important enough to bring up someone who can kick and bump out a player. If Meaney was fit I would be putting him straight in on the wing, Ryan to centre and Ayshford to the bench. Then there's always Jamie Sharkie, sure he isn't setting the world on fire but he is a better goalkicker than Marshall. Put him in the top squad and drop Dwyer. Sure it's harsh on Dwyer but Sharkie wouldn't be much worse than Dwyer and KICKS GOALS.

That's what has to happen , I agree , MacDougall, Meaney in on the wing, but our Coaching staff gives the vacant 25th spot recently to Sam Latu , instead of Sean Meaney…....why , heaven knows....Slippery Sam always puts in 100%, but he is half the player Meaney is , who is kicking conversions at 80 % + and cover Fullback & winger like Meaney can.

With Benji stats now at 60% ( 48 out of 80 attempts) ,his goalkicking if it doesn't improve will eventually hurt big time the Tigers efforts to win the big close ones.

Without doubt Meaney would be my choice, I would slip Meaney onto the wing move Ryan into the centre and move Aysford to no14 or Bret. But Sheens would not make any big changes this close to the end of the season. Maybe we need to lose a couple from poor goal kicking for the message to sink in

Should he have replaced Ryan after the Dragons….Yes IMO but Sheensy went with Fitzy and Brown...

Meaney is due back soon...Hopefully Sheens has an epithany and finds a spot for him before the finals....Goal Kicking solved .....Sheens masterstoke once again...
