Sheens at least attracted footballers to the club

Hogdson ,Prince, Whatuira ,Elford ,Ellis ,Tuqiri , Blair ,Morris, O'Hara Payten Keefmeister

I know all didn't work out because of the #sheenius ,but at least they came

You left out Keefy…hang your head in shame...

Expect Changes...

Sheens was the best coach we have EVER had by a mile.

We should never have punted him. Imiss the plays and moves. IMO we were a step ahead of all the others sides.

Definitely for a while it seemed we had the upper hand but it didn't last long. Towards the end we looked like a basketcase under Sheenius.

Welcome back KH long time no see

Sheens lost the players and their respect in the end

Marshall even stopped putting in for his hero

Unfortunately I think the club has burned its bridges with Sheens, as they have with many others.

"Unfortunately.." Really Flip? The guy was a grade 1 clown at the end. Yes he could coach in his day. Yes he has/had an incredible knowledge of the game. But gee, some of you just don't remember some of his pig headed selections and game plans. They were appalling in the last year and a half.

Sorry Yeti, I've probably worded it wrongly - I didn't really mean 'unfortunately' in that context. I meant moreso that it was unfortunate that our club, overall, tends to part ways with ex-coaches, players etc on bad terms, rather than amicable ones, so that no one will ever want to return even if we wanted them to! You can see my thoughts on Sheens, as a coach, a few posts further down the page - believe me, I haven't forgotten his last few years with us and would really hate to go back to that :brick:

Gotcha!

Cheers mate! It's certainly been a while.

You make an excellent point, for a player to give up on his hero says a lot about him as a coach. Was a shame to see the Wests Tigers fall apart around that point and to farewell a big line-up of stars.

Yep mid 2009-2011 when we were arguably the best team in the comp, we were a basketcase.

Funny how peope conflate a shocking 2012 with earlier to tarnish the rest of Sheens' record.

For nostalgia's sake I've made a Sheens team to face the Storm this afternoon.

1\. James Tedesco.
2\. Justin Hunt.
3\. David Nofoaluma.
4\. Chris Lawrence
5\. Kevin Naiqama
6\. Elijah Taylor
7\. Mitch Moses
8\. Aaron Woods
9\. Luke Brooks
10\. Josh Aloiai
11\. Jordan Rankin
12\. Kyle Lovett.
13\. Jack Littlejohn

14\. Ava Seumanufagai
15\. Jesse Sue
16\. Michael Chee-Kam
17\. Benji Marshall.

I didn't say anything about 2009-2011 except that we did have the upper hand. "Towards the end" was in relation to 2012 when Sheens was positioning players all over the place and pretty much fell from glory.

Never look back, Sheens did some great things but he lost the plot in the end. Both Taylor and Potter could have succeeded if they had a roster capable of playing the power game, but as the old saying goes, a coach is only as good as his cattle at his disposal.

Should have let Taylor see out his contract - he did enough last year for that - this season we play the top teams up front then a fairly easy run home. Next coach will have the benefit of that.

We have no idea whether JT to Potter would have Ever won a premiership, no matter which players they had. We can only guess.
And why waste another season,
we at least have some leeway to let the Coach see who he thinks can be brought up to First grade standard, and who will get the chop. No point to wait until next preseason for that.
Working with them for this season will give him insight into who he thinks will be useful next year. And who is better off gone.
We may even find that he can get more out of the current players, and get some better results in some games.
