Sheensy needs to do the right thing........

It shows his mindset when he trains Moltzen at half for the entire off season and then moves him to fullback after Tedesco's injury (when we had other options).
This leaves us with everybody and their dog having turns at halfback for the rest of the year.
Not good.

Based on our season, I think it's time he goes. That 5-loss streak was terrible and we were far from convincing in our 7 wins. He's just not getting the best out of the team.

But if he stays, who's to blame? Sheens for not doing the right thing and admitting he's probably past it, or Humphreys and the board for not having the balls to tap him on the shoulder?

Injuries killed chance of a win against a top 4 team on their home patch and you want to crucify the coach?

Take a panadaol and go back to bed.

I am not basing it on one game mate. Come on…..

I am basing it on pretty much an entire season. We've been 'flat' since round one this year.

Look at Souths...they were flat under Lang and changing coach has basically taken the same squad to a premiership contender. I don't even need to mention that the Dogs have gone from 9th to 1st basically by changing coach.

Players need fresh ideas after a while. Benji is regressing. Maybe a new coach could teach him how to play the 7 spot better? Maybe we get Nathan Brown and he asks Joey Johhns to teach Benji. Maybe Tony Smith comes in and brings with him completely fresh ideas.

This has nothing to do with one game. We've been flat since kick off.

I have been on Sheens back for a while now and of all the years he has been in charge, 2012 must go down as the worst. Last night he cant be held accountable for the loss except for the fact that he continued to play people out of position and change their role every second set, but that is nothing new. With our injury toll last night we were never going to beat the Cows and will probably struggle to win again this season.

My main concern, that our recent injury toll will keep the people quite who could put pressure on the board to consider change. Our coach seems to be given far greater latitude than most and now he has an excuse to lean on may cloud peoples vision. The people doing the 2012 season review or performance appraisal must look at the whole dismal season. It has to remembered this team was the red hot pick in March, now we could finish 15th. Their are very few people by that I mean players and coaches who can take anything out of 2012, Farah,Fulton,Woods,Utai and Ryan cant think of too many others.

Anyway we all know nothing will change–sad really

its a difficult scenario to be in… you dont want to change coach for the sake of it, look at parra.. they wernt that bad under smith and anderson, took a punt on kearny and now look at them they're in all sorts!!

i'd give sheens the respect he deserves let him finish out his contract (end of next season) and make a big play for bellamy, kevin moore (if available) or even daniel anderson who i thought was a good operator at parra. Keep sheens on behind the scences or in junior development if he doesnt look for another first grade gig somewhere else.

SHeens is good to have around the traps, he's the current australian coach and it does draw interest when players are seeking a new club..

I think there are 2 different issues here.

1\. We should sack Sheens because he is crap
2\. We should get a new coach as it'd freshen up the club

One does not link to the other in my opinion. I have defended Sheens for years as I think blaming the coach is just a way of venting frustration and isn't constructive. I think he's done an OK job, we play in a style he has created and he is well respected in the NRL.

I DO think we need another coach though. Sheens is the 2nd longest serving coach at the moment, just behind Bellamy, and look at the success he has had compared to Sheens.

Will our club have the balls to cut ties with the man who built it? I'm not sure. It's a much bigger decision than simply "We underperformed, sack the coach".

Such as…Lewis?

We need to get some fresh ideas and energy in - we won the comp in 05 because we had a good mix of youth and experience.

For some reason we have gone for a "Dad's Army" strategy (Anasta signing, Lewis near signing), Utai, Tuqiri, Cashmere, Bell, Reddy etc.

And yes we have given some youngsters a go this year but we have thrown them absolutely into the deep end (Tedesco and Sironen), whatever happened to the slowly, slowly philosophy?

The mix is all wrong imo - time for a clean out and to start again.

Thus I would move on - Tuqiri, Ayshford, Reddy, Cashmere, Heighnington.

Utai and Bell I would keep to help balance the youth v experience mix.

When do we start? This week.

you cant win them all helmsy… The way cronulla have structured his deal he will be a very rich man in his 30's the way its back logged. and still has agreat chance of winning a premiership, not a bad deal if you ask me!!

I agree with the dads army though, but you will see over the enxt couple of years we will have an abundance of youthfull players coming through.... I said it at the start of the year we are going throhg a rebuilding phase at the moment, look at sirro, tedesco two young players in our spine, Woods is only 21!! BMM is still early 20's if that, Groat in and out of first grade.

The two wingers from the under 20's
The current crop of SG ball players over 3-5 years!!

It will get better with our without sheens if a monkey doesnt take over, we just need to be careful who does thats all

Ahh yes the two years when we had an actual halfback and made the semi finals on the back of it.

I would ask honestly though Chris. Would you agree that by trying to prove Benji has always been our halfback that Sheens has effectively blunted one of the most instinctive and gifted attacking players of his generation to a ball shovelling passenger?

And that Smeg is our biggest problem, and Sheens refuses to concede on it,time he was shoved out the door Kearney style.

It is simple ….

Every time we lose we should sack the current coach and find a new coach , For
The following reasons :

-it is easy to find a good coach
-when you get a new coach you are guaranteed immediate success and improvement
- There is no risk of the new coach Allie acting players , like happened to Luke Lewis and penrith
- new players are more likely to play at club who like parramatta who sack
The coach every time they have a poor season

Lui was the perfect foil and had developed nicely. Senior players and Sheens gave him the confidence publicly to succeed

The only viable alternative, in my eyes, in young Miller has not been afforded this opportunity and looks like leaving. Goodness knows what our halves will be next year

Must be a netball fan, probably know more about that then league by the sounds of it.

Half the problem is Benji has been given the keys to the car and he cant drive!!!!Some great players start their careers with skills based around speed and being elusive, as they get older when these skills diminish they develop e far greater skills. Iam afraid as Benji has slowed down he has not gained these other skills to offset his lack of pace and elusiveness and the coach is trying to make him into a player he isnt at the expense of the team

I have to give Sheens the benefit of the doubt- he's done a great job as coach off field more than on + one premiership & hope for a better future. What Sheens has done is the vision to see Anasta as his extension on the field. We will see a different team next year with Anasta & Sheens working together. So for me Sheens has to stay. You guys say whatever you want but I think that combination looks promising. Only problem Braith is getting old. It's a small window we got.

Hard to build a team around benji…....hes one piece of a jigsaw puzzle, the rest of
the team are pieces from another puzzle

IMO no top 8 its time up for Sheens the
Place is stale and needs new blood have been saying it for a few years now.If we miss the 8 I blame Sheens and Sheens alone all teams have injuries and have to deal with them.Been very disappointed this year with the way the team has been handled and this club within a club thing is poor form.. One example young Miller surely some time should of been put into this kid he is a true half back yes he might not of made it but have a go coach .To be honest I see the club as a bit of a joke at the moment it seems like jobs for the boys week to be frank. Some new ideas and structures and I think many of our senior group would grow under some new direction…

Could not agree more.

As for Miller. A good coach is a person who makes good players into great players. Miller seems to have the credentials to become a very, very good halfback. If I was Sheen's, I would bring him up to first grade and "coach" him into greatness. That is what a good coach does.

Check out the players who have succeeded under Bellamy.

Said basically the same thing in another post. Sheens and his players are way to close and are all in one big comfort zone. No one is demanding results. We have to go back to grass roots and introduce a new head coach who owes no one anything. Their has to be a major shake up, 2012 has been a disaster you just cant sugar coat it and say things will be better next year as history tells us they will not be
