Short of Props.

woods or galloway get injured (highly likely), we are left with a front row pairing of woods/galloway and bell with a bench full of noobies.

ofc we are at least a couple props short.. we should have nrl experienced props at nsw cup as well

Although i would'nt want either of them playing in the position long term i think BMM and Blair could cover if injuries get too bad.

They tried that for a game with Blair and his size was lacking. Deadset only ran for about 5-6 metres each hit up

I didnt know Dodds had signed with the Broncos, last time i looked in Zero Tackle they had him as unsigned, thanks for clearing that up iofthetigers.

I think we are short on experienced props. I would like to see us pick up someone once a new coach comes in. If Galloway and/or Woods were to be injured or playing in origin. We'd be exposed to the bone. Other than Bell, there is no experience. We really need a guy who can be our 4th prop because as i see it we have:

1.Galloway
2.Woods
3.Bell
4.

DAYLIGHT

5.Seaumanufagai/Groat

To people who are saying Mitchell Dodds :roll . He has has groin surgery in off season. IMHO Groat is better than Dodds.
How about we develop the youth who have been playing FRF in 20's before signing some over rated hacks

Hear, hear

How can any of our BRET/NYC players get NRL experience if we don't give them a chance
In this case, "the grass is greener"

If there is a chink in the West Tigers armour for 2013 it is certainly the shortage of back-up quality props. Players like Marshall fire after the props have done their job but if Galloway and/or Woods are injured they will be in strife. Prop forwards take tome to mature (Woods is an exception). There is certainly time to buy a suitable prop but the question is whether West Tigers can afford to buy a quality prop forward? If the answer is no the Tigers would have to rely on seasoned prop forwards such as Ray Cashmere to carry the load.

Pettybourne and Blair have both played a fair bit of prop and will be able to muscle up if injuries hit….

Combined they have both started games at prop less than 20 times over more than 200 games
Pettybourne only twice.
This is why other teams laught at us, opposing packs get on top of us…we have no muscle...we use makeshift players

Exactly. Blair and Pettybourne don't have enough size to play prop.

I'd say our best bet is either through a player trade or through a guy who is down the pecking order at his current club, similar to Cashmere this season. Who knows though, perhaps Potter will have some faith in the cattle already here and invest more in the State Cup squad??

Very rarely does our pack out muscle their opposition, not too many come to mind. One game against Manly at blue tongue 2 years ago is one that i do remember vividly & of being proud of that effort but there few & far between. It will be interesting to see how Potter uses his bench but at least with BMM, Pettybourne & Thompson (not so much compared to the other two) we have forwards that offer some punch & will bend the the line. I would even start with either Pettybourne or BMM as i don't see Blair, Anasta or Fulton getting us to much go forward & laying us a platform for the backs.

Fulton, as good a player that he is not built to outmuscle opposing forwards. Tigers need at least two mean (mean as in nasty not mean as in average) back-up props to overcome the physical light weight present in the second row and lock positions. As suggested earlier I am sure that Potter knows some affordable competent/promising U.K. props who would be quite happy to join him at West Tigers in 2013\. P.S. no biters please.

What I've got to wonder, is if there is an ex-NRL prop running around the ESL feeling homesick? Or maybe a pome in his late 20s who might not be a superstar but is solid like a Matty Bell?

Potter is smart, I'm sure he has already looked at our team lists and done the math. Hopefully he has a few ideas up his sleeve.

Looked at Zero tackle forum and noticed that Shannon Boyd is unsigned for next year 193cm 123 kg. Sign him now
