Short of Props.

Looked at Zero tackle forum and noticed that Shannon Boyd is unsigned for next year 193cm 123 kg. Sign him now

I mentioned that in another thread and I'm sure someone mentioned he got a 2 year deal with the Raiders But I could be wrong

Definitely worth looking into though Sully , along with Woods he could be the next big thing in my opinion

Sunday papers report Tim Grant and Sam McKendy have to take pay cuts at stay at Penrith.

Either one would look good in a WT jersey for 2013.

Tim Grant would be my choice

I am confident in our front row depth and that at least one of the State Cup guys will step up this coming season. It isn't another Groat situation, these fellows have been playing against genuine front rowers from other clubs

we certainly need props there are none ready yet in under twentys and forget the state side sam mckendry or grant are just about our only hope unless big keefy gets a transplant.

Mose Mosoe and Shannon Boyd are both unsigned according to Zero tackle.

Both would give huge size to our pack.

Imagine our pack

Anasta
Pettybourne
BMM
Woods
Farah
Galloway

Bench

Blair
Fulton
Boyd/Mosoe
Bell
Thompson

It is a little concerning for me. There are options, but they are untried. Hopefully a couple of them will stand-up.
Woods and Galloway go well. Bell will probably find himself as the first choice prop off the bench with Anasta playing lock.
Pettybourne and Blair may have to spend some time there.

With Moors and Cashy gone, who'd you think will get a run from State Cup Smeg?

Ava Seumanufagai would be the first choice for mine

Taqele Naiyaravoro probably later in the year. Bigger and more destructive then Fifita was and a far superior attitude

What did Galloway do to make you so upset? Because this vendetta is getting old real quick.

Thanks, haven't seen much of either, quite a transformation for Naiyaravoro, he started as a centre I think.

Smeg, I know that you get along to the NSW Cup games and I'm curious why you prefer Ava over Taqele at this stage? what are some of Ava's strengths? Lastly what is their defence like?

They have both been named in the FG training squad so it's up to them now how they grab this opportunity given to them.

Also any idea who are the likely candidates to be in the halves this year in the WT NSW Cup side assuming Miller will be in FG and that we have lost both Humble and Chisholm? Thanks mate

Hair ? Liver ? Kidney? Breast ?
( oh sorry that last one is an implant not a transplant isn't it, my mistake)

Out of the box Ava is more of your traditional prop forward, strong runner, good lines, tough and rugged in defence without getting caught out too often at marker (no more then other NRL props)

Taqele is just raw talent and has errors and brain explosions in his game. He will make a big hit and then try to repeat on the next series of tackles often to the detriment of the line. Some guys are longer term projects and he continued to improve.

On the halves I do not know to be honest. Until I see the finalised NSW Cup squad. There are many options including young Sironen if they want to bring him into the NSW Cup grade and leave the halves of the SG Ball champs in tact or he may be moved to a different position in NYC.

Moltzen is a real possibility as one of the halves as well.

But it all depends on Potters plans

Hair.

Thanks Bluebag … If only we'd known years ago that good thatching was integral to successful prop forward play ... Herbie Freeman and Dougie Lucas may well have stapled rugs and played for Australia.

x2

with Buchannan, Fotuaika, Brown, Vela, Sue, and Groat should be enough depth.

Go Tigers

Its not really depth when theyre all yet to debut in NRL(bar Groat) ..

The flipside of the coin Ink, is that's it's difficult to buy seasoned FG props just to play them in reggies (so to speak). A few of these kids have plenty of talent and I prefer to see the Tigers give the up and coming youth a go, rather than buying a seasoned veteran who isn't good enough to hold down a regular FG spot.

I saw Groaty grabbing a feed at wests leaumeah last week and he looks lean and mean compared to the last time i saw him. Still a big unit but looks like he hsa changed his body shape a bit to be a bit more upper body and a bit less middle and leg so to speak.

Looks like he's started to go from a kid carrying some weight to a very solid man

Trouble is this formula rarely leads to an immediate tilt at the silverware, especially if the established engine room suffers the inevitable hefty casualty list brought about when big boppers hurtle headlong into big boppers … Unless this crop of green muscle is very very special, we as supporters are going to need to be quite patient.
