Should a halves coach be employed

Kimberley's coached under 20s team has to be the worst coached team I have seen, and the Man Taylor coaching a team sharing last place . Yep why would a club that has got 2 of the best prospect halves want to bring in a professional coaching expert.
This is why this club will always be at the mid level of the table as the search for excellence does not exist, mediocrity is the catch phrase of the Westsigers.

As heading sugests ,should the club invest a bit more for the investment they have made … Johns did wonders for the Manly halves ,IMO the club would be well served to do this ..just because Taylor was a half doesn't mean he can bring the best out in them.

Where's the money coming from?

You find it !

Kimmorly would be a good option as a halves coach, simply focussing on off the ball issues and when and where to take your options.

It doesnt look like he is doing a great job as a team coach, but position specific I feel he would have something to offer.

This is the bloke who kept Andrew Johns out of the 7 Jumper at Rep Level for 3 years. I'm sure he has the skill set!

Kimmorley is only interested in getting his ugly mug on TV. One of the worst coaches ever.
3 clubs in 3 years. Wonder who'll be his 4th. Good players don't necessarily make good coaches. He's the perfect example of that.

I am so disappointed in Kimmorley I thought he would be a great addition to the coaching staff..maybe what you have suggested could work .

Kimmorly if he had coaching aspirations would go above and beyond for this club…but he has been such a disappointment .I get the impression he only wants to work on Tuesdays and game days....and focussing on his media work the other days. He probably has not said boo to Brooks and Moses all year....as for JT coaching the halves...well we saw his "halves" structure for most of this year and our attack was rated the worst in the comp....maybe his ideas on halves play are stuck in the 90's....?..We need AJ..who is looking for a gig!

Yep, and one of the greatest mistakes ever made.

It was a great decision - and Kimmorley went on to become an immortal.

What a joke!

Part of the peace making process post pay TV war for mine

Manly had Tooves as coach (as well occasional halves Georgallis & Penna) and were happy to get Johns' help. I agree with Mighty Tiger that Brooks would especially benefit.

Having played over 300 games at 7, JT should need little help with the halves. I would be spending money on a defensive related coach.

I am pretty sure JT and Johns were bitter rivals on the field during their playing days (and didn't like each other off the field either).

Not sure if that exists today but it could a hurdle in bringing AJ to the club.

Kimmorley was obviously nieve as a player… He shouldve been on the drugs if he wanted to be an immortal.

When and where to take your options? Like that time he threw QLD that intercept pass to win the game? Haha just kidding

Beetson used to eat too many pies as well - I think they should take his Immortal status away.

What have these things got to do with football ability.

They were recreational drugs - not performance enhancing drugs.

Same as they were not performance enhancing pies.
.

Did someone say PIES…mmmmmmm

On Topic...Anything that will enhance our young halves performances should be seriously looked at...there was a guy at the Rorters (name escapes me) who did great things for Maloney/Pearce...explore all avenues...

How many coaches do a team need?? Brooks has being playing no7 since he had nappies on, **if he still needs some direction on what to do he should give it away.**

lol yeah that makes sense. stupid first graders, thinking they need help from coaches.

any player that needs direction from a coach or position specific coach should just retire.

All I am saying I think you can go over board in employing consultant coaches. Sure Johns was the best and probably has some good tips, but Taylor and Kimorley were no slouchers and we are already paying them so why put more pressure on the budget by bringing in a outsider. If we were flush with funds, yeah why not but we are running off the smell of a oil rag at present
