NZRL has no money.
Most of the players come from here (born here) and would still play NRL anyway( or be scouted and bought here) ...plus it saves the mucking around and costs for other teams to travel.
Last time I looked it was the National Rugby League not the International Rugby League.
Look after here first.
Any reason the AFL are eating up league areas?
There main focus is to be No1 in this country before anything else.
