Is this an attempt to try and take the focus off what isn't right at the WT's .....recruitment .....etc

Really?

Again the simplest way of keeping fans focused is winning games ....I think back to 2010 -2012 ...how many videos did Bonstonker do ...the amount of Forum fans was way more ......they were exciting times .....we thought and acted like potential premiers ...now I'll be over the moon if we get 9th ....

That part I actually agree with, I can't ever be happy with 9th though. I want that feeling of heading to a finals game, the nervousness all day leading up to the game. I'm ready for that feeling again.

So do I ...but if this side gets us to 9th ..we should be proud ...and that is hard for me to say

As I have said a lot, to slip into the 8 we need all our gambles to pay off.

Using scarves that say 'show your stripes' it's just embarrassing. Why not just ask fans to raise their own scarves, or give generic orange, black and white scarves in all membership packs? Just give the corny stuff to the kids membership packs

If ita not double sided, you could face the side that says rhe worda on it towards you if your really worried about it.....

We have to remember thar this is all part of culture and identity ans we should at least give it a try

BUt the club would have wasted a lot of money making a bunch of scarves that go straight in the bin or to vinnies, except for a few diehards and kids that might think it's cool.

The question is, where was the fan engagement on this? Who did they consult to help construct this idea? Obviously they'll never be able to please everyone with a marketing idea, but they seem to have missed the mark by a long distance here. If they have a member's feedback group then it's not a balanced representation of the actual fan base.

Surely you realise the irony of claiming Tigers "seem to have missed the mark" and that there may have been a lack of fan engagement or balanced fan representation, and yet assume you yourself know what that fan feedback would look like?

I say "assume", because you are pre-judging what "hitting the mark" is, based on what I assume is *not* your own fan engagement research or consultation. It hasn't been used at a single match yet.

For all you know they may have engaged multiple platforms, this may in fact be the majority preference amongst those platforms? It may be like the National Anthem, where a lot of people did not vote for the ultimate winner and it was not a majority decision, but it was still the most popular choice. I don't know either way, I don't know who they consulted.

For the record I am not enamoured with this particular strategy, but I also honestly can't claim to have any expertise in predicting what's going to go down well with the majority of fans. I also don't think "You'll Never Walk Alone" is that good either, in and of itself as a club song, but it's the 53+ thousand Anfield fanatics that carry it across the line.

You're being a tad melodramatic...

I'm simply going off the feedback witnessed on here, and on social media like Facebook and Twitter. Some like it, a majority find it cringe

As a fan and member of the public how else are we supposed to guage the opinions of other fans?

I can see arguments from both sides....I do think that the club is at least taking a look at game day inclusions for fan participation to have greater involvement from the fanbase showing the perception that we are a closer knit club with a growing member base...just my view, but I think it is at least a good idea...we have to start somewhere and build from there if it is successful....

There could be plenty of great run-out songs/riffs if the modern day trait of having to please everybody didn't exist. Now you would have to do a survey to gauge if anyone would feel slightly offended.

Any of these sort of things can be viewed a cringe without buy-in. The Raiders get former players to pretend to blow a horn for example, the Pittsburg Steelers get fans to wave a towel called the terrible towel, Kansas City Chief fans do the Tomahawk Chop which could be not only considered very lame but racist as well.

The club wants to create something to try and create a bit of atmosphere at games. Do I thinks they have it exactly right? No probably not, but I'm willing to give it a go as I can see what they are trying to do.

I agree. I can be as cynical as the next WT fan, but I’ll never knock them for trying new things.

Wait for it to be rolled out season 2021 and see how it goes. Anything else is just a micro sample.

Because your exact comment was that the scarves are "embarrassing", and then you proceeded to ask whether there was any fan engagement on the initiative. My point then being that surely your own observations / feeling, based on social media, is no more applicable or predictive than the club's own research or thought process?

The example has been given - why has the viking clap caught on in Canberra, jokes aside? It's a direct copy of the Icelandic clap observed at Euro 2016, which itself is reportedly borrowed from Scottish side Motherwell FC. Some 20 teams around the world use the clap now, no more unique than spinning towels or raising scarves. I think it's a little cringey myself, clearly ripping off someone else's chant. Stops being cringey when 25K fans buy into it and it gets laid down as part of the fabric of the club.

Awesome song but it’s not fare on AC⚡️DC when we cough up the ball with our very first hit up 😂
