Side vs Penriff

I think our wingers are fine. Utai really just dropped the ball once as nearly everyone did tonight. Alot of people asking for the wingers to stay on there man no nothing about football….

You say our wingers are fine and then accuse other people of knowing nothing about football.
THEY RAN AROUND BOTH WINGERS ALL NIGHT AT WILL.

And every other coach in the comp was watching. They will be running at utai and koro every week and scoring at will (thats is they get bored with the holes up the middle)

Seriously… you think Utai was hooked for dropping 1 ball? he was disgraceful.... cannot tackle... at all... to slow, too short, too old... would not make any other team in the comp

I think he'd find it hard to make most other teams, state cup teams.

I have said before i appreciate what he did,and was amazed by the way he reinvented himself and became useful to the team, but that was three years ago and it is a disgrace that we have not found anyone better.

The other thing that became evident tonight is That Koro is not ready for first grade, and i think it will damage him leaving him in. There is no doubt he is fast and talented, but he was totally lost out there tonight i mean seriously lost. He was unable to make any sort of defensive reads, standing 20 metres in from the sideline and is a huge liability in defense at the moment. I dont blame him, he's come from barefoot park football to first grade and has some amazing natural abilty, but Uate gave him a bath tonight.

Not saying he wont be ready. But he's not now.

Both wingers are fine...... pffft!

Surely Potter would thinking of a team similar to this. Not gonna drop Lawrence, Anasta or Ayshford despite their woeful performance tonight, and the Miller-Marshall combination i feel needs a little more time, so I'd be preapred to give it until about round 10.

I like this team

You clearly have no idea.

You dont blame wingers when the opposition has an overlap. Plus its clearly evident that our coach has not given a clear instruction to how he wants our edge to defend because Lawrence and Koro were rushing the opposition last night and coming out and in. Whereas the right edge were sliding on our line.

There looks to be no PLAN.

Incompetence from the coaching staff which means no confidence among the players.

The wingers werent the ones getting absolutely massacred in the ruck thats the first battle in any footy game and we were murdered.

I gotta laugh for 6 months I have been saying what a pathetic signing Bwaith is and everyone thought it was great round 1 ends and now everyone agrees!

Keep in mind reserve grade got smashed too, so its hard for Potter to reward any of them when they did worse than first grade against lesser opposition

I didn't see state cup so it's hard to know who is good enough to put in. For me, I'd start with the obvious - Tedesco for Moltzen, Woods to start, Buchanan (who did a great job) on the bench, BMM to start instead of Anasta. I'd like to ditch Bell because I thought his performance was unacceptable but we probably need a second prop on the bench and whether anyone from NSW cup is better is debatable.

I know it's round 1 and I'd be loathe to make wholesale changes but if they get picked these guys have to be getting close to a final notice - Moltzen, Utai, Lawrence, Ayshford, Bell, Anasta. Miller I'm prepared to give more time to but he's got to step up. There always seems to be an excuse for his lack of success but there is no excuse for a lack of involvement. One kick all night…

Our centres were woeful in attack and defence. Lawrence was poor last year but last night was possibly his worst game for us. Ayshford was marginally better but still below average. A repeat performance has to see someone get dropped if nothing else to reinforce the message that their has to be accountability.

Other than the above the general speed and attitude needs to improve. Quicker play-the-balls (when that actually happened we made some decent ground and got penalties) and line speed in defence. We'll get nowhere if we stop and wait for them.

Oh boy week 1 & we already in crisis

1.Tedesco
2.Koriebete
3.Simona
4.Ayshford
5.Lawernce
6.Marshal
7.Miller
8.Galloway
9.Farah
10.Woods
11.Blair
12.Pettybourne
13.Anasta

14.Utai
15.Fulton
16.Murdoch-Massila
17.Buchanan

Start with Benji, Miller and Farah as our spine and bring in Tedesco, keep Korro, Bell, Buchanan, Fulton, Woods, Blair Galloway and BMM then sell the other players who played last night to the Sharkies and complete there squad with ex-tigers players (they might need them), then bring up the likes of Siro, Brien, Simona, Brooks and new recruits Thomson and Pettybourne and we can look at rebuilding a new look team from round 2.

Shuffling deck chairs is not going to cut it this year. Team would be:

1 Tedesco
2 Koro
3 Brien
4 Sirro
5 Simona (Nola is injured)
6 Benji
7 Miller
13 Blair
12 Fulton
11 BMM
10 Galloway
9 Farah
8 Woods
14 Bell
15 Thomson
16 PettyBourne
17 Buchanan

18 Brooks (with Miller on notice)

I can't believe that so many people have dumped Bell

We could of had Lazarus ,Roach,Harragon and Wally Lewis on the bench and they wouldn't have been able to turn the momentum (well not legally anyway )

Do people understand the Starting 13 sets the tone of your game plan ??

1\. Tedesco
2\. Koroibete
3\. Marshall
4\. Ayshford
5\. Nofoaluama
6\. Anasta
7\. Miller
8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Woods
11\. Pettybourne
12\. Buchanan
13\. Blair

14\. Bell
15\. Lovett
16\. Lawrence
17\. Thompson

I want tedesco and nofoaluama at the back to improve our carry-back from kicks and support play through the ruck from tedesco. When your backs are struggling it is your halves that are at fault in attack, I have shifted marshall out wider, he will appreciate the space and will be excellent in setting up his winger or a wide running forward. Anasta is a proven five-eight and is a better organiser than marshall, miller will appreciate his cool head next to him. As far as the forwards go, I am trying to stiffen the pack up a bit and add more size, Lawrence to the bench means I want to use him primarily as a impact forward, he can run hard, has good footwork at the line and has no trouble defending front on, I think with his pace he will bend the line, thompson and lovett add mobility and aggression and bell provides some size and offloading skills. Can't find room for some regulars here but we can't reward mediocrity any longer. Gee, I don't know what's so hard about this selection thing, I found this quite easy …....

1.) Tedesco
2.) Koro
3.) Anasta (can actually tackle and run a hole)
4.) Ayshford
5.) Lawrence
6.) Marshall
7.) Miller (can't really blame for half for last week)
8.) Galloway
9.) Farah
10.) Woods
11.) Blair
12.) Pettybourne
13.) Fulton

14.) Moltzen
15.) Buchanan
16.) BMM
17.) Bell

My bet is that barring injury the only change will be Reddy for Utai. Right or wrong Poter will give the rest of them the benefit of the doubt for the first 3 games and then make changes if necessary. I don't agree with the strategy as it is just a continuation on from the last 5 or 6 weeks of last year from the same suspects and if it were me I would make a statement now rather than wait 2 or 3 weeks.

I think it's hard to make a call on Miller yet but as long as B&R are in the team )and we are under pressure) so I don't think any half will get a chance to put their hand up. And whilst R&B are running the show nothing will change. This means what we need is someone who can predominately tackle hard and take the line on in their own right and maybe play a minor distribution & kicking role. My gut feeling is Miller won't make it and it would be better for him to drop down to State Cup and see if he can prove himself there. State Cup need a half back and it would give him a chance to develop his game control and confidence. Whilst Brooks has shown good signs I don't see him as an option at the moment as he would suffer same as Miller from the B&R issue.

On Anasta , I know he made a few errors but the thing that impressed me with him was his agressive not give up attitude in the last 20 mins when he threw himself to the line and into tackles. I didn't see this from anyone else. If it were me I would strongly consider putting him at half as he might have the clout to override R&B more than Miller/Brooks and act as a 7th forward in defence & attack. On a side note I think Sheens foresaw the problems any half was going to have trying to compete with B&R and that's why he signed him.

Utai should be the emergency back on the bench, but should also be considered an extra backrower. Having players like Reddy or Moltzen or Tedesco on the bench is a waste. At least Utai has some size and strength (if not height).

Prepared to give the majority of the team from round 1 another go.

Utai hooked to me means he won't play this week. Reddy replacement

Couldn't find room for both Fulton and Anasta in the 17.

Pettybourne and Thompson required for aggression.

Moltzen (on notice Teddy in the wings)
Reddy
Lawrence (on notice Simona in the wings)
Ashyford (on notice Brien in the wings)
Korro
Marshall
Miller (on notice Anasta/Brooks in the wings)

Blair
Pettybourne
BMM
Woods
Farah
Galloway

Bench

Fulton/Anasta
Buchnan
Bell (on notice Lovett in the wings)
