Scary development in the CBD.

Armed bloke holding a number of people hostage brandishing an Islamic flag.

Had to happen sooner or later, there's always one nutcase out there willing to go the full monty.

Crazy. Watching the news atm thinking any moment there could be an explosion at any moment on live tv. Scary stuff. These nut cases need to be exterminated.

This comes as a massive shock to me. I had a job interview there like 2 months ago. I hope this ends peacefully with no lives lost.

This better end well for the hostages, Xmas next week and the last thing the hostages families would want is mourning there loved ones. Let's hope it all ends well.

I watched In the name of the father recently and have since done a little bit of research into the Guilford four and the Birmingham Six, and the thing that makes me sick out of all this is how those people were tortured and treated how they were and they were innocent and the authorities knew it. These mutts are guilty, authorities will know it, but they will be treated well. No justice in this world.

Hopefully a peaceful resolution can be found. Some early reports of something happening at Opera House as well.

I heard something about a suspicious package found at the Opera House and some about how it's just a security measure

I watched In the name of the father recently, and since have done a bit of research into the Guilford four and the Birmingham Six, and knowing how they were tortured and jailed when they were innocent and the authorities knew it, it makes me sick to my stomach to think how these maggots will be treated in custody when they are guilty and the authorities know it. There's no justice in this world.

Like Hadley would know. Probably making it up as he's going. He wouldn't waste an opportunity to whip the xenophobes up into a frenzy.

Sorry I just don't see the connection of the two stories GNR

The worst thing about the Guildford 4 was the actual bombers came out an admitted they did it while in jail and were kept in the same prison as the Guildford 4

They apparently also have explosives all over the city. Could be something to that if reports of a package being found at the Opera house are true.

The connection is how both sets of groups will be treated in regards to their innocence/guilt and how unjust this world is.

If they decide to give themselves in there will be no question of their guilt

The Guildford 4 and the Maguire 7 had a dying 52 year old person (Guiseppe Conlan ) and 14 year old child ( Patrick Maguire ) charged and jailed for their involvement for Guildford

The instances are almost polar opposites

I don't think the Kennedy family and many British MP's will involve themselves in trying to free this group if found guilty

Getting off track , but lets just hope that these people are just trying to make a point about their plight in the wrong way and no innocent or guilty people are harmed

Whose this tool behind the news desk on channel 9?

Shocking news ! They've chosen the time and place specifically and deliberately. In the centre of Australia's power city and just before Christmas and New Years. Very scary…

I think a weekend would've been better suited if you think like that. A Monday is a weird one. I think the message is to scare the people and the authorities and that's it. Get people's exposure and attention.
