Significance of winning this game

I tend to think if we can knock off an in form, full strength Parra without our two best in front of the pressure cooker of a 30,000 + strong crowd then we're a VERY good chance of going on to make the 8…...

Winning against quality opposition in NQ (who admittedly aren't at their best) without Teddy was one thing but to do so without him and the captain on a big stage would give this team unprecedented belief IMO and the impetus to go and defeat any team regardless of who we're fielding....

Maybe I sound overly optimistic and there's a long season ahead but sentiment does wonderful things and this side has already shown it thrives on confidence and doesn't become overconfident after a few wins unlike other WT sides of days gone by.....

Would do wonders for the teams confidence and chemistry, which already seems to be soaring.

Winning without half our spine and captain would be great! Especially since I'll be watching the game with a Parra fan.

Teddy and Robbie two Massive outs But what better game than this one for Luke Brooks to take it by the horns and dominate.I think Luke shows his class this week.

Full strength this game is still a test.
Without farah and to a lesser extent teddy, I think we are screwed sorry.
I'll be happy with a good showing but the eels have the momentum and will do us 1-12

We could win the forward battle but the reality is that we are seriously out-gunned in some key positions. So I do not expect us to win this one with Hayne and possibly Sandow being the difference. We will need stand-out games from Brooks and at least one other to be in it.

So a win against the odds this week would be very significant.

Not a hard guess, but im predicting Brooks will be shut down (or highly pressured) at every/most 4th 5th tackle options. He is the only play maker on the field.

This will be the biggest win of the year with the injuries we have. Very basic game plan and play to our strengths (forwards), and play the percentages. I think the bench rotation will be critical and that's where we might find an advantage.

Just keep it simple and run at sandow.

Hayne, Willie Tonga, Sandow & Hopoate. There are some points there.

Its a tough game however I think Souths, Manly, North Qld and the titans are all just as tough. Its the loss of Farah and Tedesco that is the issue.

If we beat Parra without Farah and Tedesco, I'd rate it a bigger win than the victories over Souths and Manly.

I had no hope earlier in the week. But now thats changing and the the things that give me hope are;

1) The speed of our forwards.

2) All the pressure is on them non on us. And at the end of the day there probably not experienced enough to deal with it.

yep, a win here would be one of the really crucial points of the season. 1 was probably South Sydney and this would be the next.

I'm looking at this as two games going on simultaneously.

The first is the of course the game on the scoreboard, which I think we will probably lose. Largely because of the loss of Farah and Tedesco who individually and in combination lead to a lot of our points.

The second game is of field position, ruck dominance, defensive resolve etc. Or how the game play goes other than the score. I think we might win that, largely thanks to our forward pack and hopefully a lower error/higher completion rate.

We will get inside the 20m line more times than Parra but our try line penetration will struggle. I get the feeling that the points we will score will come from kicks.

Luani is going to be the key on Monday

If he plays smart and keeps Parra guessing we are a chance if our forwards do the job again

I think you are right Happy. Luani is certainly no Farah when it comes to ball playing. He is however a strong defender and not afraid to run the ball, so I think as long as he chooses his runs wisely, which shouldn't be too hard given the speed at which our forward pack is playing the ball, it will give Anasta and Brooks some room to move and set up our outside backs.

Yeh agreed. I just can't see it happening though. I think we'll be very competitive but I just think they'll be a little to good for us on the day. With a full strength squad it's a different story though.
Mind you I have been wrong many times before and would be more then happy to be wrong again!

There is no reason to think we cant win this. Our bench kills Parra's and while they have an advantage in the backs if our forwards continue on as they have we could certainly nullify their attacking opportunities.

Great opportunity for Brooks to show what he is made of.

their spine kills ours though.

Hayne, Norman, Sandow, Peats versus Rowe, Anasta, Brooks, Luani.

it'll be very interesting to see how it plays out though, i think that extra finesse will give them the edge in the final 30minutes.
