First person i think of - Benji Marshall.

During the recruitment of the coach he talked up both Bennett and Demetriou. Said the obligatory nice comment about Maguire but if he liked Maguire and thought Maguire was going to be good for him he would have chosen his words more carefully.

Hopefully gets a tap.

Reynolds is made of paper mache so we need a decent back up 5/8\. And Benji is a gazillion bazillion times better than Gamble.

Its 2018 yeah?

2019 when we kick off. . .

What do you mean?

I mean you seem to be trying to make a case for keeping a guy who played his best football some 13 years ago. 14 years come next season.

? WESTS TIGERS WASTE NO TIME!! ?

MAGUIRE TO MAKE IMPACT IMMEDIATELY ?

Wests Tigers coach Micheal Maguire is wasting no time. Playmaker Luke brooks is set to sign a new 3 year deal with the club with a 4th year option rejecting any interest from the Sydney Roosters.

The Wests Tigers are also very interested in signing Parramatta Eels second rower Manu Mau and South Sydney Rabbitohs prop Zane Musgrove for season 2019.

This is where it becomes interesting, utility Elijah Taylor is being shopped around to the New Zealand Warriors and the Newcastle Knights and Chris McQueen has been told to look elsewhere for 2019.

Thoughts ??.

From Ali’s NRL rumours on FB

No problems from me on these if true..

I would like to see Taylor and McQueen moved on to free up some spots as well..

And Rochow as well.

Amen to that 😛ray:

Oh cool I get you. No I totally agree his best days are behind him and playing week to week is too much. But filling in as a back up every so often is something he can do well. What I was getting at is that a tired and past his best Benji is still significantly better than Tyson Gamble. If we can sign another back up half, then great, get rid of Benji. But right now he's the best we've got for the back up role.

I agree with this, but my fear is Benji wil trot out as our starting 6 in round 1, lets hope Madge does not think like Ivan, and Gamble may come good, the kid had one crack in 1st grade when the whole team stank, not a fair go IMHO

The whole team stunk that day but he stunk the most. He was diabolical.

Gamble is a wildcard. nothing more nothing less. In 2019 he could be a better option than Benji, we dont know at this stage.

What i do kind of know though is that Benji Marshall will not be better in 2019 than he was in 2018\. Its time to look to the future..

Yes and after that his confidence and all round game went really south. Not sure he can recover.

At present he is better half’s backup than Gamble and I can’t see that we have anything else for next season….. and let’s face 2019 will be his (and Farrah’s) swan song. And surely we are not going to open those wounds again by now forcing them to retire ... are we?
In 2020 we have couple of really talented kids in our development squad which from what I hear could prove special.
So I would leave that part of th3 roster alone on number of fronts.

Kyle Turner is another souths player who didnt see much first grade this year. Maguire may be looking at him.

I always liked Turner but they tried to turn him into a prop and he has a significant injury history. After McQueen,?

Think he has/had serious neck injury issues if memory serves me correctly

He wears the same sort of neck brace that Tate used to wear. He still playing but I'm not sure if the brace is a necessity or just a reassuring thing.

I struggle to imagine Gamble ever becoming a better option than Benji. But i've been wrong plenty of times before.

All ive seen of Gamble lately is him losing an arm wrestle to Skandalis on Instagram lol

Who knows where he ends up but i like the kid and best thing that could happen to him was a new coach and a new structure.

Ive said this a few times but ill say it again, all and i mean all of his QLD cup highlights were as a left edge player. Most of the time for us he played right edge.. Square peg, round hole.

Maybe Maguire unlocks the key.

If not no big deal, he is hardly on any big $.

Can’t see how the Knights would use ET - they’ve got Fitzgibbon, Guerra, Ese’ese, Buhrer, Mata’utia and Barnett amongst other covering 2nd row/lock. Buhrer can actually do a decent job at hooker too (unlike ET last year). Warriors maybe. He could cover for them loss of Mannering in terms of leadership and work rate and the rest of their pack is big enough that they could carry a small forward.

Slade Griffin isn't back until midway through next year. Knights are looking for a back-up dummy half.
