I'm not sure he fits Benji's "all effort all the time" approach.

2020 Luciano without a doubt. he was super impressive when he first came to the club, but can he do that consistently?

we definitely need to improve our back row stocks but is Luch the guy? given Benji played with him for 12 months I feel he'd have a decent idea of what he's capable of.
 
AD is one of a few players in our squad that has proven genuine game breaking attributes. He does have significant flaws & have called him out on them alot. But can also see his upside which makes him a frustrating player.

I’m willing to see how he has changed his techniques/training/approach to things (as multiple injuries always creates a change) to evaluate if he should stick around. Player with his repeated injuries always change their techniques etc.

People look at his contract high price currently, realistically he will get maybe half a season under his belt if that & doubtful it’s in the halves so his value to negotiate / next deal will be greatly reduced.

We are bare in the backrow and have terrible depth.
He can play but his fitness looked ordinary for the cowboys last year.
His downsides are high risk for us & is he the player we want involved with the culture we are aiming to build is my main question.

I just can’t bring myself to say yes even if he was free.

Agree with all of this. If bateman and Flip go down we would be desperate for Luch to run out with us though.

Thats what makes it challenging.
If his mindset and commitment is on he would add alot to us and hands down makes us stronger.

But the history and track record is the exact type of player we are learning to avoid of late.

I think a lot will depend how some of our fringe guys & rookies perform this season but think for 2025 another fast, experienced outside back (particularly on the wing) would help ...

1st preference Nick Meaney (on top due to his versatility, leadership & goal kicking), 2nd preference Semi Valemei.

Then I think we need to watch what backrow stocks could be available at the 'right' price for 2026 (unless Samuela Fainu, Tumeth, Kepaoa, Porter, Solo Saukuru absolutely kill it behind IP & Bateman)

Not a chance. Maybe at 200k.

He's lazy, bad attitude on and off the field. Not what we need.
