Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

All this talk about Galvin as a 13... if Galvin wants to play 6 he will play 6 at wests tigers or another nrl club. If he doesn't want to play 13 and we pressure him to play there then he won't be a tiger. They say players shouldn't demand where they should play but when you have Galvin's talent he gets to call where he wants to play.
If Galvin keeps firing it may be fainu and Sullivan that are no longer here in years to come.
Galvin will have the last say. Or Moses. Moses needs a quick buck also. Rent becoming unaffordable. Even the Roosters players selling their houses. What does Uncle Nick know that we don't.

I think it's a case of wait and see. I'd be willing to give him more games in the 6 this year as well as seeing Fainu in the 6 to see who goes better. Sezer is good. I'm sure Richo and Benji aren't inept enough to keep Sullivan before losing Galvin. Unlike others, I think there is a way to manage the team with Fainu, Galvin, Sezer, and Luai next year. I think Sullivan is the odd man out

It’s more how much we are over spending on the Salary Cap on some players who are unlikely to be in our top 17 that’s the problem.
If you over spend on certain positions, it doesn’t leave enough cap space to fill other positions with quality players.

That’s all true, but of the players we are talking about here, the halves - Luai, Galvin, Latu, Sezer, Sullivan (I’m not considering AD as i don’t expect him to be here). Obviously Luai is on big money (a choice we made for numerous reasons) and Sullivan is on medium money. Sullivan is the only one I’m not happy about and that concerns me. The others are on little money and it’s early days, who knows what positions they end up in or how they fit into our future. I am not at all worried about them, more about finding the right guys to fill the glaring gaps we have in our squad.

Yep that's all true. I think it's a good thing that the biggest talking point is how we fit our halves in rather than poor performances. We can still make 1 or 2 big signings during the next off season I think. A good winger or forward

Regarding where Latu fits into the side, Jamie Lyon was a terrific centre who also played well at 5/8. Latu seems strong defensively and has the ability to see the numbers in attack. No reason he couldn't have an early career at centre before moving in one spot.

We need a centre...

Not a bad shout.

Listen, it's obviously not ideal, but here's a second question.

Everyone is saying what not to do, but the same people will be saying how we should have tried harder to keep all 3 if they are playing out of their skins and one leaves because we keep carrying one on the bench.

In that situation, what is the answer?

The Luai at 13 suggestion is based on 2027 or onwards. Not next year or the year after and depending on how Latu and Galvin develop.

I'm not even advocating for Luai at 13. Simply saying if you are going to try and move one of the halves to another position over time, then Luai fits lock better than Galvin and Fainu. It COULD be a solution depending on the landscape at the time.

Secondly, watching Latu on the weekend, it's clear he is 1 or 2 years off. Now we are looking at an ageing Luai, Galvin with 2-3 years under his belt and Latu with 50 games experience around 2027 or 2028 season. At that stage, Luai might be happy to shift depending on form.

All this is a wait and see, but I don't think you can keep carrying a spare half on the bench because you don't want to lose them. You have to give them a path to full-time first grade and a position they can specialise in for the long term.
Keeping two players happy at 90% and having a 90% chance of retaining them

Is better than having three players happy at 65% and having a 65% chance of retaining them

Galvin is number 1 priority.

That kid lives and breathes football. He doesn't go to parties apparently, comes from a good family, doesn't drink. We need to take care of him at this club. If Latu leaves, I'm prepared to cop that if it means Galvin is kept.

Goes beyond losing just Latu, might lose his brothers too if they want to stay together

In the meantime, rooster lad at work ( ex junior player) thought that despite the loss, we are looking ten times better than the recent past and playing good footy.

He’s pretty much sold on Stef for first tier origin selection and said Pole is probably attracting a lot of interest around the league and it’s time to start talks to extend him ….because he’s only going to get better.

We agreed that Olam seems a lot happier with us than with Bellamy, much better than expected. I think the feel good factor is more important to some players than others.

We both think a Nado selection is imminent but young mate said once he gets a spot, he will be very very difficult to dislodge because it would be killing him not to play first grade. He said that’s all he would be thinking about. He used to play footy with him so he has an idea.

The other players he is enjoying are Faataape and of course, Galvin.

Not so long ago, we’d discuss the roosters, but he’s getting into his Wests Tigers now. A natural progression for humankind I thought to myself!

JL will add another dimension next year and be a good influence on the youngsters. Help retain them as well.

Am I the only one stressing that John Morris will go back to coach South's and our defence will go back down the toilet.
That has been rumoured...though Id think hes too smart to wanna go and work with Latrell
That said head coaching jobs dont appear outta nowhere all that often and hed have a great knowledge already of the goings on there before hed even start

It was only one game but I liked what I saw. A fully fit and mentally ready Angus Crichton is one of the best players in the game. The Dogs couldn't put him to the ground. He would make 10m every run and then get a fast PTB.
I remember three or four years back after one off season he came back absolutely huge, much bigger than he already was and hes was at the age where the growing naturally had stopped

Luai will kick back every night thinking how lucky he is to be getting paid 1.2 million per season.

Anything new to offer aside from character assassination??

LACHLAN WILL STILL GET PAID!!!

PS - don't let facts get in the way of your beautifully woven fairytale!!
