that's how the Storm recruit. They very aggressively target top young players at 18/19, early in the season and give them a take it or leave it offer in March April

I love this. Its that kind of professionalism that i do admire the Storm for.

Is there any reason we dont do the exact same thing. Are we the nice guy recruiters who give the recruit the full year to see if they can make it at their current club lol.

They have the pulling power of a highly successful club and coach and proven track record in bringing in talented players and taking them to the next level.

Very few players have ever progressed to elite level after entering our system. The more success as a club and with individuals we have the more of an attraction we are.

Thoughts on Dallin Watene-Zelezniak as a signing.. seems to be on the outer at the riff if rumours are correct that eels are making a play for him

@Cultured_Bogan He's 30 this year and the injuries are starting to mount up with him. I'd rather we hunt for some younger blood rather than pay what would be good money for a guy who will likely be on the decline. That didn't work out well for us last time we had some cash to splash.

@Balmain_Boy
I personally like Liddle and would rather keep him then sign someone else.
I'm just passing on what I been told from inside club.
They also looking to keep Robbie another year as back up.

@Geo and you know what he’ll be doing to us come Thursday night, not a good enough excuse ‘being on holidays’ there needed to be huge focus on retention at the time but it seemed like the big boys (and girls) upstairs were only interested in white anting each other.

As above..Madden, Talau, Cini, Bradley and Smith before that..All Australian Schoolboys..All signed by Wests Tigers from other Junior systems..locked up for 3 years..see how they go..

If you notice i liked your post where you said that.

Im aware of this just saying why dont we play hard ball with our negotiations not that we dont sign young players.

Speaking of young players however and since you brought up those signings, theyve really only came about because the muppett got rid of Keebra Park. We had systems in place, now we dont. Now we need to go out and get them from other clubs. At least we are signing some promising ones by the look.

He's like an upgraded Thommo (no offence to Thommo of course.)

Would walk into our backline despite his piss poor showing against us.

Madge did make him NZ captain, could help us if we did go for him.

@Cultured_Bogan While he is a solid player, I'd be concerned that he could potentially block the progression of Smith, Bradley, Cini and co. I'd rather promote from the these players and backfill their positions next year with the eyes of next years Aust Schoolboys team.

That's fair enough but we've bankrolled on youth for years with mixed results. Can't just rely on junior development.

Not much has come from from Keebra system that have gone on to NRL in the last few years we have probably got the pick of the bunch with Mikaele....the others that came down with him are playing State Cup or below at other Clubs....Payne Haas of course but he was always signed with the Donkey's from Keebra....the Titans now use Keebra and as yet nothing has come through..

You questioned the loss of Papenhuyzen saying the Club waits to see if they would make it rather than be pro-active in negotiations and lock these kids up...well they have locked up the best of the bunch coming through the last round of Schoolboys IMO regardless whether they came through our systems or from outside..just like the Storm and Rorters do...the line nice guy recruiters just seemed a pot shot at the Club..... again IMO..

You lost me trying to say not much has come from Keebra park. Fair enough you want to defend the club but the best place to start that is with honesty

Simple google search shows.

JJ Felise, Kenney Edwards, David Fafita, Payne Haas, Moeaki Fotuaika, Greg Eastwood, Rangi Chase, A. J Brimson, Jai Arrow, Jaleen Feeney, Jordan Kahu, Isaac Liu, Te Maire Martin, Benji Marshall, Tauta Moga, Corey Norman, ben Murdoch Marsila, Agantius Pasi and Tyronne Roberts. ( some are current Super League players)

This is one high school, in the whole of the country!

How anyone can defend getting rid of an affiliation with that school is totally beyond me.

Nice try Geo but you are not on the right side of this

How many of those were through the Wests Tigers pathways whilst aligned to Keebra...?

Our association with them only ended 2 season ago..

The Easts Tigers through their affiliation with the Melbourne Storm have formed an alliance with Keebra Park.

its a joke of a situation. Storm dont even need to recruit our young players now they just sign some of the guys who would have been in our system straight out of high school.
