Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think the tigers played their hand putting sionie on a T&T contract. He's the pawn in all this.
It means Bateman has to turn up now.
If I read this right , the club wanted Bateman to fly back for 1 day of training then fly back to England for there two week break over Xmas , NOW ask ur selfs would u do that , I know Bateman has bern a arse hole but the club is not helping the situation with that demand

I think they would have been ok with Bateman remaining in Sydney over the XMas break … maybe he could have got a head start on his training like Hunt has done

I got no sympathy for him

It's very unfair and childish especially after you wanted him to leave to free up cash

Really who gives a shit what Gus thinks , if he said it was raining out side I would have to go out and check , he only opens his mouth to promote his agenda
Agree. There is an agenda behind Gus coming out and saying “WTs now have a Top 8 roster”.
It sets up a fail if this doesn’t happen. The youngsters will have doubts about the WTs becoming a successful club. Pressure on the coach. Ect

I didn't think he needed to go back....
I thought they scripted his post playing commitments media etc so he'd not be back here before Christmas break.... I might be wrong

Hope Bateman declines the second helpings for XMas lunch and turns up for training in pretty good shape that first day …otherwise it’s possible the Board is working as hard as some of the players this offseason

We've still got roster problems this year which I don't think will go away unless Richo can work some miracles. Bateman, Sullivan, naden, and a handful of juniors that look well off the pace (matamua, tumeth, Sakura and kit) . Doueigh too to a lesser extent.

This year probably needs to be about building while trying to repair the roster furrher. If we can do that, and hold onto pole and Galvin, 26/27 should be good years.

While I agree with that, there is an agenda from both sides around it and I am a member of the Tigers. He hasn’t had a preseason with us for the first two seasons you’d think he’d have a go by at least his third, especially to show some honour.

I think you might be overstating his influence on the average 20-odd year old NRL player mate. I doubt many of them are going to collapse in a heap if we start the season poorly because they're worried about not living up to Gus Gould's expectations. Sometimes people just say things because that's what they think, and it's not as if the man has ever been shy about sharing an opinion.

I think there are two points from the Tigers:
1) We're trying to build a new culture here and we're asking players to step up and demonstrate effort. There may only be one day of training before the Christmas break and we can't force you to do extra over the holiday, but you can see a number of our players volunteering for extra work and you just have been in the UK for months so you might want to think about where you spend Christmas. Your call, but, y'know - new culture and all that. Join the dots old boy.
2) Also, we're far from convinced based on your performances and attitude that we want you here at all so if it so happens that you give us good reason to sack you we will take it like a shot. Does the letter of your contract say you have to be back in training for one day before the Christmas break even if it means flying over from the UK? Bad luck. See you Monday.
