@Harvey **Yes but those other aspects of his game can be coached out!** You are born with speed that is the gift ... and this is what is needed in the roster!

Mary doesn't seem to be having much luck

@Harvey Yes he did and I believe Mbye is out of his depth.
That said, Origin training will be great for him. When you have 3 experienced coaches looking at your game going "hey carry the ball higher" or "if you run this way you're a little harder to tackle". You will see a difference.

Mbye as a player will greatly improve post Origin.
He is still exactly what we don't need. Penrith, are you interested in swapping Mbye for DWZ?

Is there any actual evidence for this idea that players come back better from origin or is it just another footballing old wives' tale? I mean, I'm not sure exactly how Reagan Campbell-Gillard benefited from his origin experience, say.

What about liddle? And fonua over jenngings?

Liddle hasn't seemed to kick on, hoping he comes good tho

Jennings imo has done nothing for us so far - Fonua I'm a big fan of he has very good go forward with him and Masters that's a really strong centre pairing

Good point.

FWIW Rumours going around on Twitter and Facebook saying that the Bulldogs are out for a 5/8 and are looking at gamble, possibly a swap fro Rhyse Martin On the cards. Take it with a grain of salt.

Not a Fan of Duffy as he is only hot when his team is winning and they have a lot of go forward.. When under pressure and behind he seems to make errors and not defend well.. That's just my thoughts

No, it's a lot of people's thoughts!

I think his broken jaw his more to do with lack of form ..for whatever reason he doesn't seem to be running with the same vigour or putting his body in front in defence..

@Madge

Martin is a great goal kicker, but I am not sure he is a Maguire type backrowers, ie aggressive, strong and hard. Although it would be great to see him handed our kicking duties. I just see he would always struggle to hold down his spot and play the long minutes required to get the benefits of his goal kicking.
It’s also has to be noted..why would a team coming last want to move him on???

How do you coach out hiding from contact when defending. That is not a learned skill, it is a character trait.

Simple

You tell the defender that until they continually put their body on the line they will have Matterson , Aloiai, Mikaele and Twal coming off the back fence at every training session

Tough love

I went off last year saying Matterson was the best signing since Gareth Ellis.

I’m doing it again Jake Simpkin is the best signing since Benji Marshall from Keebra Park.
This kid is a gun he will start round 1 next year already better than Liddle and stronger.

Lightning out of dummy half and has a brilliant off the deck passing game. He will be QLD hooker in 2 years.

That's based off watching one u18 origin game?

I'm glad to hear Simpkin had a great game, but let's reserve judgment until he's playing the best in the game, not just his age group.
