Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Blake at his best is near unstoppable, wouldn't mind him at Concord.
Good signing for Parra if he can return to good form.

I’d take RCG above DWZ. I’m a fan of both but we are more deficient up front.

We're deficient in all areas. DWZ would walk straight into this team.

We have players no one wants we can’t offload.
I don’t think subsidising contracts is going to work either. Who out of Packer, Matulino, ET, McQueen starts in any NRL team. The best chance we have is Cleary doing the right thing and taking a few back with him out of good will.
The ESL is likely if these players want to go there they would definitely be a class above ESL.

The Mbye rumour came out as he is a player that can be moved. For all the criticism he is a first grader and subsidised by the Dogs.

Yeah if we had the salary cap space and roster spots I think Blake + Drinkwater would be a better option than DWZ. That would be a big injection of attacking threat between the two of them.

After Friday’s debacle, it is clear that the issue is our lack of aggressiveness in our forward pack - hence I think we should go after Luke Thompson (St Helens backrower) and Ben Currie (Warrington). The main issue is that we have no decent forwards coming through the grade hence we will need to pay overs on players. We gambled on Packer And Mats to be our bookends and that gamble has turned into a massive bust.
Personally, I would get Woods back if the price was right ( could be a Payton contract situation) and try and move Packer to Wigan (maybe player swap with Maguire contacts at the club)

@TYGA packer and Matulino were starting at nrl level before they got here. What happened?

Coaching philosophy Cleary wanted defensive props that show leadership. Madge wants more power in the middle.

It all comes down to the cap. Hindsight is a wonderful thing we have overpaid to become a mid table team with an ageing forward pack likely to decline. The deals were too long also Reynolds, Packer, Matulino, ET should have been 2 year deals.

Newcastle got it right they paid big money for stars in their prime Klemmer, Pearce and killed it with Ponga.

This is the issue isn't it. We need these guys either performing or at other clubs but no one will take them because we overpaid.

I don't know how you can turn it around other than do what the club has done recently and re-sign the right players while looking to bring on more of the players that we require at the club.

See a Waqa Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon's a DWZ .we could use more Waqa's

You point out our lack of aggression then suggest getting Woods back?

Are you high?

He realised that even if he didn't do that he'd still get paid.

Zac Cini, Tommy Talau, Jock Madden, Dylan Smith, Kane Bradley. 3-4 out of the group and becoming great players is the key. Signing a Matterson type player every year will assist until Madge can reshape the roster. The ESL will be the only way out I feel for the older non performers.

We are good a bringing young talent to the NRL. This is what we have done well in the past. Maguire needs to get a team of top assistants/development specialists to accelerate their development to make the best use of our good junior recruitment.

I wouldn't mind all 3. Waqa would solve our centre problem, DWZ out on the wing and either Hetherington or RCG for our front row. Offload Packer, ET, McQueen, and (maybe) Reynolds retire Marshall and Farah and there's your cap space.
