Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

@balmain-boy - is that not Melbourne being proactive? Negotiations were reportedly held off while our CEO went on holidays! He was in our system and if anyone had the upper hand in securing him we did, and we screwed up. You can keep making excuses, and blame player managers, but the facts remain we have a record of poor recruitment and retention and JAC is an example of that.

I still don't understand why our CEO took a holiday during the season. Seems odd to me.

@Yossarian you’re not wrong, most pathetic excuse have heard in all my time following

Although i agree, our recruit and retention has bordered on incompetence, JAC did recently mention in an interview with Matty Johns he had already signed with the Storm before he had made his first grade debut and the Tigers didn't know about it.

I dont think we were ever going to keep him.

Wasn't Marsters' cousin a young and upcoming fullback?

Hows he going?

I have seen him play and he reminds me of Esan. He is better suited to centre being the forceful style of player. With our backs generally. there appears to be a reluctance to go with players who do not fit a mould eg strong and ruck the ball out from our line . Is this due to having coaches who don't know how to use them or due to a lack of forward grunt and concern the faster nimble players Cani do forward work? If so. Korobeite and JAC have more than proven their capacity.

That's a new one. In that case WT management can't be blamed and sounds like his manager was doing a swiftly with WT. Our only hope then was JAC reneging in the cooling off period.

What kind of a player signs with a club then signs with a different club less than 6 weeks into the season? We signed him out of the NYC remember, and he was a fast but scrawny little kid.

@WhiTe-Tiger if the Storm were prepared to sign him without having played NRL, why weren't we? Superior scouting and decision making? Those we expected to safeguard our future were incapable or too slow in recognising talent.

@pawsandclaws1 Why didn't he just sign with the Storm in the first place then? If he had no desire to be at the Tigers why bother? They weren't interested 6 months earlier??

That doesn't make any sense, we did sign JAC without him playing NRL.

Maybe had no salary cap space and they said if you join a weak club like tiger's for 12 months you will get heaps of experience and be ready for 1st grade when you get here

Apparently, Jaydn Su'A has been told he look for a new club, Thoughts???

Only if we sign his mother, she has more aggression than all our forwards put together.

An actual signing suggestion instead of complaining about history! Good work!
I would pass on Su'A personally. He has not come on as expected and is a defensive liability. Some of his Q Cup performances this year have included:
18 tackles made 9 missed
22 tackles made 6 missed
24 tackles made 5 missed
...his overall tackle efficiency across 5 reggies games is 78.9% this season - that would be terrible at NRL level for a 2nd rower so it's beyond terrible there...

It was a business trip. Visit American sports clubs to see how they operate. NFL clubs, College football etc. My guess is you can't waltz in whenever you want, they'd have windows where they're happy for visitors and other times they're focused solely on the job at hand.

The CEO also doesn't have to be in the same room for talks to take place. The agent could have easily waited as he said he would, or send an email, whatsapp, facetime in order to conduct further negotiations with us. JAC's agent had no intention of working with us, what more can we do in that sense? If that was his attitude it wouldn't have mattered where we were, he would have signed with the storm regardless.

Melbourne Storm recruitment manager Paul Bunn and Frank Ponissi, came to Sydney a couple of days before we played the Storm to meet with JAC.
JAC played his first NRL game against the Storm a few days later.

Can Admin stop this rubbish... The last 15 pages are on players we have lost in the past - Get over it and move on

I find it interesting and so do others by the number of replies. If you don't like it, don't read it but please show a bit more respect than labelling it as rubbish.
