We have no cap, so basically we should be developing young players to come in. We done really well in the past, better than most in producing good young players, and if we only just have a few like, a young Tedesco, Brasher or Corowa come through system , mixed in with the current team, we would have a very good team.

@Fitzy05 Disagree, I thought they were dominated and put on their back most of the time with the exception of Mikaele. It is expected given we had 3 props out injured, but I still think it's our biggest weakness. We were kicking inside our own 40 far too often.

Yeah, they struggled to gain ground most sets and despite his undoubted effort, plus the minutes he plays, sadly Twal spends more than his fair share of that time on his back after being dominated. I thought Clarke did exceptionally well in his opening stint the other night, finding his front and getting a quickish play the ball almost always.

Whilst not at the same level in defence, thought Oliver filled the role that Mats normally plays reasonably well and would certainly have him there again next week. Didn't note the time when he was rotated, but he went well past the twenty minute mark, when with his efforts early on, I wasn't expecting him to get there and not be struggling.

The fact is it’s not “Benji Marshall” or “Josh Reynolds” that is holding up development - it’s the salary cap being used on them. If we had a good junior 5/8 coming through it might be a different story, but you can’t just magic up a good, cheap half out of nothing (I note that your proposed signing is “someone” out of reggies - not an actual person, just an imaginary really good half who’s hanging round in reserve grade and willing to sign for what we currently have available, which is nothing).

Cust and Elgey are behind the 2 starting halves at Manly, Harris Tevita and Keighran are in reserve grade at the Warriors, Canberra have 3 halves and there are more, they are around you just have too look.
I would target Harris Tavita, and have Keighran as number 2 target, both fairly young and kick goals, both are stuck in reggies

sadly Twal spends more than his fair share of that time on his back after being dominated.

Twal runs a bit too upright, he worries me a little on kick returns because with his upright running style someone will light him up soon. He needs to drop his shoulder and lower centre of gravity on contact with the defender. He is still an amazing prop but fixing this will take him to the next level!

I should be clear: at no point have I ever said I think the Tigers should keep Marshall over a good, young player we can sign for a very small contract. That would be insane. This started by me saying that if signing Marshall persuades Reynolds to look elsewhere that can only be a good thing.
Look at it this way: if we want to sign a young 5/8 is it going to be easier to do so with Marshall on our books or Reynolds? Obviously it's more or less impossible when we're carrying both of them but, again, that's never something I've advocated.
My preferences for 2020:
1) Young, cheap, talented 5/8 as starter and Marshall (on very cheap contract) or some other generic body as backup.
2) Marshall or some other nuffie as starter, basically punting the position until we have cap space to sign someone good.
3) Soiling myself in the queue for the jacks at Leichhardt.
4) Anything to do with Reynolds still being on the books.

The problem is, he won't be back up, how many reserve grade games has he played, he is picked in first grade every week he is fit, that is the problem, that is why he needs to go

Well it isn”t a source cos he’s asking a question.

Of course there will be an announcement no later than tomorrow night. If we only had the intention to promote juniors we would have announced it already.
We're obviously trying to get some deals done, and if they don't work out we promote juniors. If we sign one player we promote one junior. Fairly simple stuff

the annoucement may not happen till Monday on the basis most of the office staff dont work on a Sunday. As long as contracts are registered then thats all fine but may not be announced till Monday
