Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Clearly still a lot of deadwood in the roster... takes a few years to fix that. Not a quick process, the best rosters have 4-5 stars, then a good mix of serviceable first graders and young up and comers

At the moments it's too many young guys who were signed to top 30 deals way too soon... thanks Sheensy and previous management

Richo has us on the right track. The top 17 is pretty good, just need to fill the rest of the roster out now.

he leaks stories because it suits him too…he isn’t doing it out of the goodness of his heart to help out a journo ,,,,. He isn’t cutting anybody off …
At some stage, these self serving grubs masquerading as acting in the best interest of the players, will be called out..by the players themselves, particularly at the elite level
D Brown may well be the catalyst
And will see what happens with Tumeth, who was oversold and may never play NRL again

Our old mate Kenty reckons DCE has a deal with the Roorters, makes a certain amount of sense, but then you could make a reasonably logical case for 3 or 4 different clubs.

Good luck to him whatever he does and stuff Manly.

Kenty did qualify his comments saying he hasn’t heard anything … so he is relying on gut feel/ educated guessing … just like a Wests Tigers Forum member talking about Taylan May …
Poor old Kenty’s podcast might struggle if he doesn’t actuall get inside info from anyone …

Good for the client but bad for the game, they shouldn't have enough power to ruin squads which has been evident in the past, the NRL should control this by getting rid of the independents and having their own in house maybe this could work out to be fairer method.
The players association would never allow agents to be “in house” at the NRL because it would put an end to illegal payments and therefore the players would earn less.

I agree with you that something needs to be done.

You would think we have at least two of three signings in the pipeline, but aside from Taylan May it’s hard to see where they would be coming from ?
There are virtually no decent back rowers currently playing NSW Cup or Qld Cup who are any chance of being released by their current club and look to have the ability to be any better than what we already have, is there anybody currently playing in the UK who might be looking for an opportunity back in the NRL ?
Would Sam Stone currently at Salford be an improvement on our edge back row depth ?
I’m pretty sure columnist Read wrote at some stage that evidence of Richo’s trip to England may not surface this year
Maybe a poor memory

Think Kenty is barking up the wrong tree..upside down!
Actually.I totally agree with him

a resident prophet here also suggested the same .I put it to them after it seemed like Richo's trip was a fire sale not a buyers market - time will tell

That in turn will take a lot of pressure off Ponga
Spot on, though if Ponga does stay atm looks like he's still going to have to run the team, Brown just looks like a deer in headlights. Maybe doing his bit to get out early, at least that's what the Knights would be hoping, cause if they have paid 1.3 million and this is what he dishes up consistently, they've just buggered their salary cap till they have the club option in 32 I think it is. He can play so don't know how much his slump is based on mentally being checked out or on the fact he's a Luke Brooks type half, only injects himself when he sees something but isn't able to run a team. Whatever it is his forms fallen off a cliff.
