Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I am still baffled by yesterday's score line. I completely understand that the storm are a far more developed team and organisation then the tigers ( Unfortunately ).
I just don't know what the club does moving forward. I see gaping holes in our roster with out talent to fill them. I see a player market about to be stretched like 50 yr old weekend Lycra.
I see players laughing after an absolute thrashing. I have seen more stress and disappointment on coles workers when my tea bags are out of stock.
Like everyone here I have been enjoying this year and having a 50/50 win rate has been refreshing. But after all these years to still have that sort of result in the best roster we have had for atleast a decade is so deflating as a fan.
That score line just highlighted the huge issues at the club. Bellyache tore our team apart like a surgeon and the players had zero reply.
pointless post and pointless rant. Just like memberships and energy given to the club.

We are in desperate need of an another alpha prop with experience & voice in the James Fisher-Harris mould. Terrell May leads with his effort but we need someone who can stare down an opponent, puts fear in the opposition & can produce big PCMs at will.

At the moment Pole should be our 1st bench rotation until he further develops his game & experience.

Who could this be that could fall out of the tree?

If the Broncos have cap constraints, Willison would be a good acquisition.

Spencer Leniu is probably the only one looking likely to be cut loose at the moment.

That said, I think edge back row and centre depth is a bigger issue. No idea how Charlie Staines became our 3rd choice centre.

Was working so only caught glimpses of yesterday's game, what little I did see the whole team were disgraceful, though because I didn't see the majority of the game I may be wrong but from what I did see, it looked like Bellamy had their big boys like Solomona running at our 2nd row to start the sets, I saw them run at Sayfarth a few times to start a set, then that got us on the back foot and they just rolled us through the middle. Personally think Bellamy is single handedly responsible for destroying the game with the wrestle and holds he brought in, but he knows his stuff. Am I right that he had their big boys running at our 2nd row to start sets to get us on the back foot then used the momentum to steamroll through the middle of us with the quick play the ball speed it generated. If I'm right it kind of settles the arguments on here all week about our 2nd row. Sayfarth from what I saw was monstored, doesn't help he has Galvin next to him and by no means am I suggesting yesterday was his fault cause it's not, but I'm saying, we need bigger bodies in the backrow, Sayfarth to the interchange. I didn't see the other 2nd rower I was just checking in to the massacre on and off, but it just looked like they ran at Sayfarth and Galvin to start the set and once they did we were in a world of hurt. If I'm wrong please feel free to correct me.

In fantasyland if I could pick a no nonsense forward we could use right now to help May and bring some grit, fight and culture to our pack I'd pick Ogre from the Bulldogs. Omealey was a beast. Wasn't the biggest forward running around but was the toughest. I don't remember a forward ever getting it over him, never forget his running battle with Gibbs. The guy was an absolute beast.

So …… for me this result against the storm was a car crash waiting to happen!

There were warning signs for our coaching staff and players through recent second half performances in last couple of games but particularly against the Dragons which we were dead lucky to win.

And this is definitely down to the Club’s poor reaction to our recruitment needs. I’ve and others on here have been banging on for bloody months about our crap quality top 30 roster. Beyond the first 20 we have absolutely no one that could be classified as first grade standard.

Our pathways squads have absolutely gone backwards both in terms of talent and coaching.

This was so obvious and should not have happened. Believe me this may be our undoing for this season unless some major calls are made …. and quickly by the CEO, the coach and coaching staff.

That 64-0 was as bad as anything I have seen over the three wooden spoon seasons … i thought they were past that ..i think it needs to be called out and not excused
Think it sits second behind the 70 plus mauling the roosters gave us in recent seasons, I thought we would get a touch up yesterday but not to that extent.
After their 1st try and we put on a good attacking move out to Turuva then the ball went to ground that was the end of it, everything just fell to bits, panic set in and they gave up.

So disappointing was starting to look like we were past this crap.

The off season chase of Corey Horsburgh suggests that the club sees the same thing.

We were bullied, for lack of a better term. They were bigger & stronger & flexed on our team.

I suggested that a player like Jack Hetherington would be a good addition. I'd suggest it again now. We needed someone to put NAS on the deck & not accept getting bowled over.

None of our current team can do that.

Jack Hetherington would be a good value buy & Knights may be interested to release him before June 30 to save $$$ but a Spencer Leniu or Xavier Willison would be even better.

Yep...

My thoughts are take a gamble on Latu being fit for the rest of the year. Probably unlikely but let's hope.

We have 28 in the top 30 now. So 2 vacancies.

Galvin straight swap for J'maine Hopgood.

Brown to the Knights & we take KPP straight away.

We sign Dom Young.

That's our top 30.

1. Bula
2. Turuva
3. Doueihi
4. Toa
5. Young/Skelton/L Luailli
6. L Fainu
7. Luai
8. May
9. Korosaui
10. Pole
11. Sa Fainu
12. Pearce-Paul
13. Hopgood
14. Da Silva
15. Twal
16. Si Fainu
17. Hunt
18. Seyfarth
19. Bird

If Latu gets injured move Api to 7 & Luai to 6. TDS starts at 9. Hopgood as a utility middle & plenty of middle depth.

Bird can be called up if required.

Adds depth where required. Injuries are killing us at the moment as well.

Need to them sign at least 2 good outside backs for next year, 1 starter & 1 good depth player.
Sorry but I don't think Young should block Skelton's pathway wingers are like forwards now I think Skelton offers more to the team

"Their chairman said that they had the money to take him now and so we agreed his management wanted that. And then they’ve backtracked at the end of the week and today, so that’s really annoying."

Robinson referring to the Knights and their chase of Dom Young.

Surely there is an opportunity for us to get someone (KPP, Frizell) out of Newcastle early.

Not sold on Willison. My fear is he's a little more the athletic type & a little less the hard nosed type.

We have athletes. We lack the mentality.

Leniu is obviously the dream addition.

I REALLY like Jayden Hunt from the Broncos. Surprised he's satisfied with the role he has there.

I know Young is very obviously not wanted at the Roosters, but man those are some savage comments to read if you were him.

"That's really annoying" you're still here Dom.

Roosters can get away with anything. Politis and Gus can get away with anything.

Taking Young for the rest of 2025 wouldn't be a terrible idea.

Skelton has not shown the ability to stay fit unfortunately. And if Young lights it up, then Skelton can always move inside to centre.

What we don't have is too many guys with his physical skills.

Given the choice of Young or Staines, I'd take Young every time.

Very very close

They ran their big boys at our halves not our back rowers and credit to them it worked they watched luchiano tear up galvin last week and just done that themselves

Any issues Seyfarth had yesterday are due to him being left out on his feet having to cover for galvin aswell as himself and he still made 54 tackles and was leading the kick chase at the end of the game

I agree we need a better roster and better cup players but to say our pathways talent has gone backwards is just such a lie

The hate for Seyfarth seems out of line with the performance yesterday.

He was hardly the worst in a bad performance. I'd argue May played worse yesterday.

Galvin is being exposed badly in defence last few weeks.
