Up and coming gun at the Bulldogs;
May feel his path is blocked, especially if they sign Burton.
All the talk is around the kid, Woods, being the future 7 at the club.
Might be worth a look, our first choice backup.
Faalogo is faster than anyone at the club. No one could tackle him if he gets given space. Mason is no chance, he's still a year or two away from NRL standard
I'm not really big on Origin personally. Gave up on it when I got sick of blokes being pick on name and not position. Like N.S.W will have 4 weekly playing fullbacks playing in the centres, wing and fullback just to acclimate blokes and I'd be thinking what's the point trying to make origin if your a centre or winger. Personally the N.S.W team should be picked by position not name. Best centre at centre, lock at lock. Not a 5/8 at lock because there's another 5/8 they want to put in the team. I know Qld do the exact same thing. But this year I hope Qld put them to the sword, noone can justify to me the way the clubs going that we don't have 1 N.S.W player in the squad. May and Api were certainties imo. They're only crime is they're playing for the Tigers. Screw Daley and N.S.W hope Qld rip them apart. All this Blues talk, none of it positive. I can't remember an Origin lead up with such little focus on the game. This is no benefit to Daley. I love beating QLD but surely we're outsiders.
Other thing we need to remember to keep things in a bit more context is that our total lack of depth is completely detrimental to these guys ability to develop properly and just do their jobs. Imagine being in a workplace where the guy next to you needs help every few minutes. Then the next week it's the person 5 people down from you, your productivity would cop a beating, I'd imagine it's much the same with us in that the guys we need to rely on to do what they do best can't just focus on themselves and what they do but need to help out the other guys at times aswell. In a hardened N.R.L squad it's fine there's plenty of leaders and players with experience to help out, but a squad like ours it has a detrimental effect, maybe next year with another year of grade and more experience the squad handles it better, but we need more depth just regular tradesman type players, guys that can just do a job, that'll help Luai and co out massively.Don't be sorry, loved the essay.
Honestly I don't disagree with a single thing you have written. Buy in and culture are all important and I agree it appears to be something all are delivering.
Again I agree all are/will be genuine first graders. I don't want to suggest none will prove to be very good players for the club in the future. My only point of contention, and it appears you may somewhat agree given you have noted some of their individual weaknesses, is they aren't yet.
My opinion is they are not currently performing to their value, without regard for what they may one day produce.
You appear to be putting more stock in what they look likely to do with the right supporting cast given they have the all important building blocks of ability and attitude. I don't disagree with that.
What passes me off is his value is close to 1 million. I think 1 million was way overs for him but that's what we offered, how can the N.R.L now turn around and allow another club to sign him for around 750k. He shouldn't be allowed to be signed for less than 900k if the salary cap is fair. If a club values him at 1 million how can the game allow him to sign for 25% less at the competition leaders so they can fit him in their cap. The systems busted. How do they fit him under the magical bulldogs cap. What a grub Gould is . Should be made exit his media roles clear conflict of interest
How anyone can say now that Gus doesn't use the media to further his own agenda as the g.m of football at the Dogs or whatever club he is at is astounding. How the N.R.L don't tell him it's either one or the other. Your in the media or the g.m of football but we won't allow both is beyond me.Hopefully this puts an end to the "Gus likes Wests, he always talks well about us in the media".
The blokes an old school Tony Soprano. He praises his enemies while plotting their downfall.
We are the Bulldogs direct competition for the hearts and minds of western and south western Sydney.
Gould will always be plotting against Wests, it's just galling when forum posters believe his utterances.
Luke Brooks?Anyone else concerned Parra now have no 5/8 signed for next year and a million dollars available to sign one.
Possibly one that has an option in his contact at the end of the year and has a good working relationship with their halfback?
As a former referee explained to me, the NRL is about entertainment and theatre, not football. This is big news for the NRL and the story will be on the front page for a few weeks with his manager milking the opportunity to further his own interests as well as those of his clients. WTs will suffer like it did yesterday with the article from Weidler. The worst part about this is the inside knowledge that everyone knew in advance what would play out. Disgusting all round. How anyone can say now that Gus doesn't use the media to further his own agenda as the g.m of football at the Dogs or whatever club he is at is astounding. How the N.R.L don't tell him it's either one or the other. Your in the media or the g.m of football but we won't allow both is beyond me.
Luai is the reason why many players have joined the club. He is the glue, together with Koroisau, which binds the team together. He goes about his work with the minimum of fuss and maximum of effort. He has matured as a player and as a man. He is one of, if not our best, purchases together with Koroisau.Praying Parra take Luai from us. No team is ever winning a comp with him getting 1.2 mil a year and making him the no.1 playmaker.
What’s your plan to replace him?Praying Parra take Luai from us. No team is ever winning a comp with him getting 1.2 mil a year and making him the no.1 playmaker.
Lets see what he does the next few weeks now hes free from Daddy daycare services and has Latu to work with.Praying Parra take Luai from us. No team is ever winning a comp with him getting 1.2 mil a year and making him the no.1 playmaker.
It must have been a humilating experience for him having to put the individual ahead of the team. It goes against all his learning at the Panthers.Lets see what he does the next few weeks now hes free from Daddy daycare services and has Latu to work with.
Agree mate....I think hes had to deal with being the mentor for a fuxxing brat as well as organising and taking his shots. Freedom. Hope Latu is healed up and ready to rock, we could witness a resurgence in the halves. It must have been a humilating experience for him having to put the individual ahead of the team. The early nineties was a funny time at the back for Wests - during Devine’s time he variously battled with Danny Peacock, Russell Wyer, Mark Bell, Jason Alchin & Anthony Xuereb for the #1 jersey. Can’t be entirely sure but think he took over from a future immortal Danny Peacock
I think that’s the pointTalau is in reserve grade.
Its half his salary this season
Mapa is the only one on that list that deserves a promotion. Promoting anyone else is a Major insult to the club and it's membersThink we may promote one or two internal guys to top 30 this year like:
- Krystian Mapapalangi
- Izaac Tu’itupou
- Jaxson Rahme
- Elie El-Zakhem
- Kurt Falls
Or alternatively our development guys to top 30 for these guys on a dev contract. Don’t rule out any external talent tho
