Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Congrats @Tucker for calling the grand comeback early last night when we were still being flogged within an inch of our lives.

I guess every dog has his day!!

I dont know if i was more surprised that the side was having a go or tucker had gone all sage on us.

Keep it up nuncle.
It was obvious to anyone who was paying attention.

I got to say, Des Haslier is damn smart.

Looking at the origin team list, I became bemused at the Titans getting 3 players in the side. Sure Tino probably gets a mention, then I realised what Des was doing.

Des knows he doesn't have the halfves or backs to drive the team forward so he builds his forward pack.

Meaning next year when he gets the halfback he wants (or at least a consoldiation prize) he will have the forward pack to have them do something. Contrast that with the tigers, 3 spoons and never once did we frontload or use the time wisely.
Yes, he’s a good coach, he also understands that many good halves don’t want to work behind a weak pack.

Not Wests Tigers but interesting:

Shane Flanagan on former Aussie 7s player Nathan Lawson making his NRL debut tonight;
“It was interesting with the presentation with his dad and partner this morning that we presented a jersey to a bloke that’s been to two Olympics and represented Australia numerous times,”

I have seen him live about 5 times, while he regularly has the job not a very reliable goal kicker
Thats part of the reason why he needs 18 months. If he is earmarked as the first grade kicker he will obviously need coaching and development in that part of his game. At the moment he is still playing schoolboy rugby (his last year there) so he needs a good period of time to focus on what Tigers need him to deliver as a starting centre and this will likely include kicking goals.

Defence is horrible. For all his good there is alot of bad. Great potential but toa and Douhei are safer options at the moment. We dont need the risk he'd bring for that sort of cash
I think I would have to pass on Marky Mark at this stage in his development. I do agree that he is really rocks and diamonds. I think what's good and bad about him is he backs himself and is overly confident. The game on the weekend when he defused a kick then ran the short side to make a break and was easily taken over the sideline pretty much sums him up at the moment. In our team he would be a massive liability, we don't defend errors as well as the Rorters, maybe if we were a better defensive side I would say yes.

Yes, this.
Defending errors is our Achilles heel.
We can’t carry error prone players until that’s fixed.
