Signing a goal kicker is all well and good, we need one. But they need to have some ability to. Can't just pick him cos he can slot them from the sideline. I'm sure everyone remembers the famous Eion Crossan.

Ross Conlon

Len Killeen

Ah, Len Killeen.
Used to dig a hole with his heel, put the ball upright on it’s point and toe-poke the ball. Watched him miss a goal from 10m in front at the old Sydney Sports Field in ‘69 or ‘70.

Terry Lamb had success toe poking the ball but he had the ball set on a mountain of sand and ball laying down flat.
I used to emulate him because it got me the most distance. Lol.

@TIGER I agree that we must not chase Ramien. Bad attitude players are the last things Wests tigers need. Think of Packer and his shennaningans since Cleary left and Madge took over. Packer is costing the club a lot besides big, big, money going down the drain.

There didn't seem to be any red flags (from what I recall) when he was at Cronulla. So if Flanagan got him playing well why can't Madge? Part of being a coach is being a people manager.

No to Ramien for me, he's one of the most over hyped players running around, when he feels like playing he's great but that happens once every 10 weeks.

Seems like he also has an attitude problem and probably off field dramas too.
A big NO.

Some players with what appears to be an attitude problem just need a change in scenery and time to change.

For example Klemmer left Bulldogs on negative terms but is doing well at Newcastle. Broncos are benefiting from the ongoing rehab of Matt Lodge. Storm are getting some value out of Sandor Earl.

What is important, regardless of whether or not we can afford Ramien, is does MADGE think he has an irreparable attitude problem. The issue with Ramien might be as specific as an inability to get on with Nathan Brown and nothing else.

Andrew Fifita springs to mind. Sacked off by Sheens because of his attitude.

He didn't like either of the dressing rooms

Thought for sure I would read he got told to move along for being an uber ball hog... don’t mind a bit of attitude, in fact we could use some.

Newcastle is set to part ways with star recruit Jesse Ramien immediately after a dramatic bust up with coach Nathan Brown.
The Daily Telegraph broke the news on Thursday the 22-year-old was told not to return to the club following training on Wednesday.
The Knights have also granted him permission to start looking for a new club.

“The decision this week to drop Ramien from the NRL side prompted discussions for the centre to find a new home,” a Knights statement read.
“These talks were mutual and the Knights have given Ramien’s management approval to negotiate.”

It’s understood tensions between Brown and Ramien had been simmering for some months.
It’s a stunning fall from grace for the player who starred for Cronulla last year before inking a two-year deal to move to the Hunter in 2019.
Ramien has struggled to find his best form on Newcastle’s right flank, and he’s been dropped from the team for Round 20.

It was only a year ago he was considered one of the game’s best young centres, and on the verge of State of Origin selection for NSW.
He’s only scored two tries in 17 games for the Knights and the Telegraph reports he has fallen out with coach Brown.
The Knights have also given permission to Danny Levi and Herman Ese’ese to negotiate with other clubs.
As foxsports.com.au reported on Thursday, Canterbury has expressed interest in Levi and he looks almost certain to leave the Hunter.

@avocadoontoast according to Fox he has told Ramien not to come back - find another club. Will be cheap and maybe Madge can manage him better?

@Newtown just flagging that he is on the market but too many clubs too young? Suspicious!

But he is young and has his best in front of him. Not like Packer at all really. Even Moses Suli has come good with the right coach

Look at what Des has done with Suli and the rest of the under performing players at Manly.

Hasler's done an epic job with that team. Even Sironen is playing well.

Did Brown slap him across the face?

Because he is a quality player.

Now he is. He was rubbish here. Perfect example of how a change of scenery for a player can work wonders.

It's always the way. Play crap for us and kick on somewhere else.
I can't count how many have prospered once leaving the Tigers.

To be fair, most clubs experience that...

Parra let Aloai, Twal and Matterson all leave.....

They actually told Matterson he could go.....Matterson! Unbelievable.

They also did not want Maloney...

They could have had a decade of prime Maloney running the show.

They told Gallen there was no spot for him, he went to the sharks for over 300 games. Parra are as bad or worse than us, only difference is parra buy quite a few of their cast offs back, which usually doesn't end well for them, although Moses is going pretty good
