Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Keon has publicly come out today saying he’ll be testing the open market come November 1st and has also stated he’s a prop moving forward (hoping to attract the same $ as others)

Rabbits cap surely taking an hit after looking at their roster especially after the Fifita addition.

He can play 80mins at prop similar to Terrell. The combination of those two as our starting middles would be scary. I think with the recent KPP addition on our right edge, all we’re missing is a dominant middle to partner May and he fits that criteria perfectly. I genuinely believe he’d complete our team.

Don’t forget the Richo link with South Sydney and having played alongside Benji as well.

My question to fellow forum members is if you’d guarantee Keon’s signature…. would you offer a $1 million a season deal to get it over the line.

My answer….. YES.
Keaon and May is behind Hass and Carrigan only what other starting props are better?

It would make us a top 8 team we have strike all over the park

Keaon Koloamatangi is set to test his worth on the market, conceding he is still awaiting a compelling offer to extend his stay with South Sydney.

The 27-year-old has one year remaining on his current deal with the Rabbitohs and has little desire to part ways with the club but may be forced to if a good offer is not forthcoming.

Speaking to 9News, Koloamatangi, who is currently touring with the Kangaroos for the Ashes, was unsure if his management were in talks with Souths to work out what his future holds.

But the forward was sure of the monetary value of some deals that could come his way.

"I'm off contract November 1," he said.

"I've been communicating with my manager back in Sydney. I'm not too sure if they (his management and the Rabbitohs) are talking at the moment to try and get something sorted.

"At this stage, I think I am [going to the market]. But hopefully Souths come to the table."

Koloamatangi's manager, Tyran Smith, is also in charge of Broncos prop Payne Haas, who is also coming off contract and is currently on a deal worth roughly $1.1 million per season.

Koloamatangi sees his value getting up towards the $1 million-a-season mark.

"I am a front rower now, I've seen the money they have been getting," he said.

"Hopefully my manager can sort something out soon."

I’d offer him similar to May, and show him the family love culture we got going on.

No 750k max, what happens when the rest of our pack sees a million paid for and they start wanting more money, unrest and itchy feet Tigers scenario problems rearing the ugly head again.

We did upgrade Will Craig after all
Why does our club have problems offloading deadwood.
other clubs seem to just make it happen which makes me feel some cheating in the cap is happening.

Can the club just wave Will Craig and pay him out to create a top 30 spot? I understand his salary would be included still but if it's like 120k who cares

I suggested him a few months ago out of the off contract players for '27 to fill a need for us.

We'd have to be careful about $$$ though and not get the May brothers offside as Terrell is comparable value. If we offer KK $950k as an example, I think we'd have to ensure TDM a decent increase for his next contract so he gets he's valued by the club just as much as KK.

But thinking as I'm typing, would we pay that amount for 2 props?

Being heartless here but he is an easy delist at the end of 2026 to create a roster spot for a player to sign for 2027 and have the likes of Tino Tavana, Mapapalangi, Tui'tupou, Max Taotua on T&T deals in '26 who we can play if form warrants & if absolutely required anyway.

Keaon is an Australian representative and proven himself for longer then May, an increase is reasonable how much exactly I don't know bro

The only middles I would pay $1M for are the truly elite ones - Tino, Haas, Yeo, Tapine, Murray, Carrigan etc. And all those guys offer more than just their playing ability, all of them come with huge leadership qualties. Saying Keon is worth a mill then you're saying he's gonna bring more than just the numbers.

1m for a prop that doesn't want to be a prop

I reckon it would take a 1 million dollars per season to get Keon interested in potentially signing with us and as much as he would be great to have, I don’t think he’s quite worth 1 million dollars per season.
Yes it’s not our money, but if we are wanting a more than solid 17 to 30 man squad, we should be mindful that overspending on any player will likely jeopardise that from happening.
If we could sign him for 800k than it’s a no brainer get the contract signed, but extremely unlikely we would be in the picture unless we are paying him 1 million dollars per season.

I'm with you mate, 800k you either see an opportunity and want to play for us or you don't

Haas is the only prop worthy of $1m.

Tino is not even close to Haas.

Yeo - put him in any other team he will be rubbish. He looks like the cop that gets killed in the last bank raid in Point Break. Pathetic.
