Why would it have to be? Luke L is off to Perth in a few months and is behind blokes who are committed to the club longer term in the pecking order for opportunities. No need to waste our time on him

Luke leaving June 30 takes our list down to 27, surely some players are coming in.
My contact says it’s not on , but I guess we still got 5 days to go
I think that looking at the issues with the roster we overlook the fact that we don't have a dominating forward that runs hard and puts the defenders on the back foot May makes metres, real has improved alot but sometimes you need a Royce hunt type that starts and can play 25 minutes. In defence as well. When the team starts losing the ruck a good hard dominating tackle here and then would make such a difference. This wrestling crap is alot harder now. Put the attacker on their back is the best way to slow the play the ball with the new rules.
And.like i said in my post to which you replied earlier...."itd wanna be someone worthwhile"

Luke is not on much coin - you'd be hard pressed to understand who would give the same output per $ as a replacement.
Sorry I more meant. Letting him leave now, even if someone else doesn't come in for him, makes pretty much zero impact on the NRL team for this season, and gives other players development opportunities in Cup for our longer term benefit

Seems quite peculiar letting Luke go early. Makes very little sense, unless there is a swap deal organised with the Wahs.
They are deadset on not releasing players without compensation, so I am not sure why we would be any different with them.
Perhaps we may have signed DWZ mid-season?
Makes sense with Warriors signing Walbrick for 27' and their current stocks.
Maybe they see it as a cap benefit, freeing up some space, and Luke covering depth in the interim?

The rules are weird. I believe Luke L will still count towards our 30 required contracted players by June 30 even if he departs. For the remainder, we can easily promote Bunty & another (Charlie or Tino) from the dev list to make 30 without spending much.
And as I will say again, it doesn't mean the cap space saved on Luke L will mean another player coming in. It may give us extra $$$ to give towards Samuela Fainu for this season.
NOTE: Luke & Samuela have the same manager (Mario Tartak/Crown).

Already skinny on outside backs..and dont need to do any favors
Weve already paid 6/12ths of this years salary..nothing material to be gained by releasing him early
