Idk where you got that from, what I’m saying is that we should stop relying on nothing signings to save our season hoping they turn good as it’s got us nowhere the last decade.

We should shift our attention to signing proven first graders, nothing wrong with signing some youngsters but when we rely on them to be the change needed that’s when you know we’re not doing things right.

Unless you're cheating, you can't build a roster by signing proven first graders. They are, by definition, expensive. It's fine to have some expensive players, of course, but you can only afford a few of them.

Here's the Raiders 17 that played the grand final:
Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad: played 7 games for the Warriors, basically surplus to requirements.
Nick Cotric: Raiders junior.
Jarrod Croker: Raiders junior.
Joseph Leilua: had played 100+ games but basically unwanted by Newcastle.
Jordan Rapana: 5 first grade games for the Titans, out of the game.
Jack Wighton: Raiders junior.
Aiden Sezer: had played 70-odd games for the Titans but was surplus to requirements.
Josh Papalii: Raiders junior.
Josh Hodgson: signed from England.
Sia Soliola: had played 90-odd games for the Roosters but had been in England for years.
John Bateman: signed from England.
Elliott Whitehead: signed from England.
Joesph Tapine: played 20 games for Newcastle but was basically surplus to requirements.
Bailey Simonson: Raiders junior.
Emre Guler: Raiders junior.
Corey Horsburgh: signed from the Cowboys prior to NRL debut.
Dunamis Lui: had played 80 first grade games for three clubs over seven seasons - more or less the definition of a fringe first grader.

Tapine was not unwanted by Newcastle, the Raiders paid good money (reportedly in the order of $450K) to poach him off Newcastle, who were not happy about it.

Speaking of taking sharks players, i wouldn't mind signing Prior for a year or two to add some starch to the forwards....

Unfortunately, I can't really see any of the above likely to be attending tigers training over the next few years.

Why dont need another pensioner in the ranks,i could be wrong but isnt he over 30 already.Just checked he will be 33 next year and looking for a payout.I suppose he could hold Mcqueens hand and they could reminisce about "the good old days"

Fair enough, I'd forgotten and I assumed based on Tapine being in reggies at the end of his time at Newcastle. The signings from England are grey areas too - it's not as if Josh Hodgson wouldn't have got some sort of deal elsewhere. But I stand by the point: you can't build a squad out of "established first graders". You need to find undervalued players, not pay full whack in the open market.

The one on the bottom left had that problem when he was here, hence why no longer with us.

I was going to say something quite dismissive about Matt Prior's value as a player but I noticed that the comments on his RL project stats page are both from his mum. So I thought I'd be a nice boy and just say I'm sure he tries his hardest.

@MacDougall
Had to laugh yesterday David Fafifta said he would listen to his mum to where he should sign what sort of TPA will she be on at the Rorters

Dunno, maybe Josh's mum might know

@Elderslie_Tiger That is spot on... NRL don't care what the top clubs do as they focus on clubs like us and the Farah type deals :man-shrugging: .. Whats funny is ex Roosters players like Finch, Fletcher joke about it but nothing happens.. Time for the NRL to have a proper salary cap with NO TPA or capped ones at least plus maybe based on points for players not salary.

So you are saying that players can not do advertisements or be sponsored by companies, they can't earn money from their image or profile?

anyone got the article?

No they can earn what ever they like but to make it a level playing field which it supposed to be the NRL should have a value on all players
similar to Super Coach try fit the Rorters team into your Super Coach team there has to be a better way
