So, Roosters say they won't release him to Souths (allegedly). I'm surprised they don't just sign him for 2021. As if Roosters would pay him for a whole season to play reserves.

Theres something very odd about this whole latrell thing, cant figure out why easts dont just play him for 2020, and if he is supposed to be coming to us, why hasn't the deal been done, something just doesn't add up to me

This JWH resigning is not a coincidence. As little as 2 months ago he was on his way out , as they couldn’t afford to keep him , and about A couple weeks ago , when the LM stuff started , it was reported that the LM money was to be used to resign JWH and Taukehaho.
Then a few forum posters are saying it’s a done deal for LM to tigers .
If that were true , and you’re trying to avoid negative reaction to letting a 22 year old stud go across the city , wouldn’t you announce a resigning of a club legend ?

@avocadoontoast all good,lol. but don't u agree we really need 2 very good forwards and one good centre even if we get LM.it really gets most on here upset that we are stated to be in for this player and that player, but nothing ever seems to come of. we were told that lomax was close to signing now he is close to signing for the knights. we were hopeful that we would get something for that dog going to the eels yet he has signed and again nothing.

I think we need one prop, one backrower and I’d love a tall fast winger.

I'd say the prop is coming and it's the one you and many others don't want here.

Tetavano but looks like that won't be happening. No idea what other props are available.. we do need one though

@tiga4eva Tetevano can beat it, no pun intended. He has had the luxury of playing in a star studded Roosters team. I think in the WTs team he would be worse than Blair. Good on him for trying, but he's just not worth 400+ or whatever he's expecting.

And to think we offered Woods $900k.
$400k is a steal

I'm always amazed by people who think a sensible way to evaluate a contract is to compare it to the most egregious overpays of all time. "I got someone round to fix my drains, he charged me five grand and flooded my basement with gallons of raw sewage. So I got another guy in - he didn't turn up at all but only charged me three grand. What a saving!"

The Wests Tigers have snuck under the guard of Parramatta to steal one of the hottest young talents in the game on a three-year deal.

The Tigers have secured the services of hulking prop Stefano Utoikamanu from 2021 with one of the largest contracts for a player yet to make his NRL debut, understood to be worth around $800,000.


Parramatta were desperate to retain the 192cm, 115kg teenage sensation, who has drawn comparisons to Broncos sensation Payne Haas.

On the back of Ryan Matterson's defection to the Eels, the Tigers have managed to land the major coup and are also expected to sign Dragons forward Luciano Leilua in the coming days.

It is understood the Tigers, who are also the frontrunners for Latrell Mitchell, want the Australian Schoolboys representative to join the club immediately to play for them in the NRL in 2020.

However, the Eels earmarked Utoikamanu, who grew up playing against the likes of Haas and David Fifita, to make his debut in 2020 and now have a decision to make whether to keep him at the club or let him link with the Tigers immediately.

NRL.com understands Utoikamanu, who is on a development contract with the Eels and is no guarantee of being bumped up into the NRL squad, stands to earn almost triple the original offer the Eels put to him midway through the year.

We are definitely investing positively in youth. Fingers crossed we can get the one or two experienced heads to transition them in.
