Perfect example of a club making a signing WITHOUT ANY NOISE. Those calling the panthers a basket case still aren’t getting it.
Signed Capewell and Koroisau under other teams noses without moving a muscle...
I know what I’d rather our club be like.

Lets me understand what has happened...
We have freed up quite a bit of money and all we have done is sign some quality juniors and no real players with first grade experience.. (LL from Dragons is a maybe but nothing confirmed)
I understand we have been trying to bring LM over but not holding my breath on that either, I am really concerned if we hang out any longer for LM we are going to collect the first prize of Nothing..
AJ & Capewell gone off market today so hope the club is working overtime to spend these so called funds on someone..

I am not saying these young ones are not great pickups but we really need some quality signings before other clubs come into play next year with $$$ to spend...

Well then I can't understand how come Wests tigers have been talking to Mitchell for weeks when he keeps showing signs of wanting to go elsewhere.

That's why managers do the talking isn't it,? Latrell has not been in town. The fans simplistic view of how things should be managed is very different to reality of negotiations which appear to be more like a game of chess.

What about DWZ? Bulldogs did the same thing.
I would rather our recruitment team and more importantly our media communications team had their stuff in order like the Panthers, Eels, Bulldogs, Souths, yes thank you.
Do you really want to appear a desperate team that’s begging for that big signing or (driving to Taree) or do would you rather be a confident team negotiating with multiple players and picking the best fit.

Firstly, Capewell wanted plenty of coin for an average player. We already have better options in Chee-cam and Garner. The last club left chasing him was the Panthers, which has been spoken about for weeks, so this is far from a prized low media profile signing.

Secondly, why would everyone think Lattrell would just jump in our lap and sign the contract as soon as it is put on the table? His manager would be doing him no favours by accepting this. The Managers role is to maximise the contract for his client, and hence there are leaks to the press and a story on the developments (whether true or fictional) every day.

We need a high profile signing. You pick up Lattrell and other players want to come and memberships surge. I am sure we are doing our due diligence in the background to get this over the line. People shouldn't be demoralised by media speculation. If he chooses elsewhere like DWZ, then so be it. The club will move on and search for another big fish.

I’m ecstatic we are signing these kids.
I also think we should keep trying for multiple 1st class signings. But we are being used for money topping. I just wish like what the Panthers have done with their last two signings Is that the first time we hear about it in the media, It is to announce a CONFIRMED signing. If we have signed Luciano Leuia and the Parra forward for 2021 why haven’t these signings been announced by the club. Whatever they need to do to get them there early is a bonus but at least it’s some news to go off. Would also help with Interesting other players to look at signing with the club for 2021 We are hearing nothing official but everything in whispers. Aren’t you tired of that?
Souths on the other hand have said nothing! And for all we know or don’t know Latrell Mitchel may have already agreed or signed a contract for 2021 with them because there is nothing stopping them doing that.

It’s not the Capewell signing in isolation it is more the method that I have a problem with currently.
Players that have ‘apparently’ been DONE DEALs by Tigers.

I am just annoyed that we have not announced any player with first grade experience as we need that big time.. I think we move on from LM as I think we are getting played.

@Needaname it’s all manager driven though . The tigers have coin so all the managers are using us as a negotiating tactic . Very few were probably more than us checking in . I am yet to see anything suggesting Souths are interested or even , have the money at the moment , to sign Mitchell .

But that’s my point.
I mean what’s the first thing you think when you see in the back of the paper a heading like “the biggest signing since Ellery Hanley” and there is a picture of Latrel Mitchell running in a tigers jersey.
Someone has to be feeding the media the fuel for this kind of propaganda to be created! No?
