If we got Mitchell, I think signing JAC would be over investing in the backline. JAC money would be better spent in the forwards.

Geez it would be good to watch though

I think we could afford both Latrell and Josh AddoCarr. If the media story about the contract offer to Latrell was right, it was only $800k for Latrell in 2020, and even with some upgrades we have done, we should have about $700k left for the other 3. It would be tight, we'd have to backend Josh a little, maybe $450k, $550k, $650k, $650k , but it would be doable.

I know we need forwards, maybe one or two of these younger kids could be promoted, and we buy a big forward next year.

Here we go again!

Which “big” forward?

Just a big one or a fast one, and/or a good ball player or all of the above.

Name please.

Yes it's a bit like all the "quality players" that we are supposedly missing out on while waiting for this LM negotiation to run it's course. Other than Arrow who are the quality players that we are missing out on, that are actually available.

Three-way switch imminent after Sharks veteran Matt Prior agrees to Leeds move

Two-time grand final winning front rower Matt Prior has agreed to a three-year contract with Leeds in the Super League, paving the way for Trent Merrin to return to St George Illawarra and Luciano Leilua to join the Wests Tigers.

Sharks prop Matt Prior is set to join Leeds.

The move is a huge win for the Cronulla Sharks, with the 2016 premiers salary cap mess set to become considerably easier with Prior’s departure.

Prior told the Sharks football department staff on Tuesday he had agreed to terms with the Super League club.
Sharks coach John Morris can now begin the process of trying to fill the final four positions on Cronulla’s top 30 roster.
Up until Prior’s departure, the Sharks only had $29,000 available in their salary cap for next season.

Once Prior has signed the Leeds contract, the UK club will release one-time NSW and Australian Merrin to return home and join the Red V.
Merrin made his name as a local Wollongong junior with the Dragons before departing the club to join Penrith under the Phil Gould regime.

The one-time NSW State of Origin forward has been desperate to return home to Australia and is a smart pick-up for the Dragons.
The final domino effect from Prior’s deal with Leeds will be the Dragons releasing up-and-coming forward Luciano Leilua.
Leilua will join the Wests Tigers on a three-year deal.

Since the poster you are criticising said 'next year' how about we go all out for Taukeiaho who is off contract. This year - Leilua, who it seems we will be signing.

I'm glad you were specific saying you want a big forward. Just incase it was thought you were suggesting we sign a small one. Bit like when people say they want a hard running back rower.

Why do I have to give a name? The opinion that we need an addition to our forward pack is fairly widely held. I like many others can see the problem area, though I don't have the specific answer. If I did, I would have said their name.

And how would I know now who is available for 2021? Would anyone in their right mind think back a year ago that we could be talking seriously (though a very small likelihood sure) about LM and JAC coming to WT in 2020?

How about JAC and Matt Dufty, looks like he may be stuck behind Lomax now.

Dufty is very one dimensional and many dragons fans dont want him in first grade under any circumstances.Lomax is the best outside back at the dragons even if mary isnt using him properly

@851 Don't think we'll be giving up on Liddle just yet. He's due back in the early rounds of 2020. I'm afraid one more lengthy injury and it'll be time for him to go sorry to say

I’d be giving up now, sorry to say. There comes a point where you have to cash your chips in. 2020 is already a write off. Even if he does get on the field, he’ll be finding his feet, yet again. By 2021, it will be 5 years since he debuted, and we’ll still be talking about potential. Time to unleash Simpkin in 2021 and see what he’s got.

I understand what your saying.
The thing is, it’s not potential everyone who support him are going off. Before his injuries he was a champion rake, consistently playing elite each game. It’s not a case of him being a gun occasionally and he has a good game every now and then.
He even handled the contact, welcomed it. It’s just his body hasn’t developed since his first major injury. It’s a tough one but he hasn’t been able to play anywhere near the game he was playing leading up to his debut and in the year following his debut.
And we are hoping Simpkin, 19 and of similar build can basically have more luck with injuries than Liddle.
Needs a good break from the game to get right, I don’t even think continuing in reserve grade is the right option

Spoiler Text

:::

. Reynolds / Mbye to start the year and he comes in the back end.

i wish tigers had of signed N Meaney instead of Mbye,he would be currently into his second full year as a fg fullback and has shown a lot of promise.Dont think he would be too happy playing on the wing at the bulldogs and lets hope madge and co are watching that situation closely.

Duffty is exactly the type of player we should NOT sign if we are fed up with mediocrity and 9th spot.
