If the figures are accurate, I'm not a fan of BJ for $1.8m over 3. Too much $ and for too long

Won’t be costing the tigers 1.8

With Canberra kicking in, looks more like a cost of $1.4m to the tigers over 3 years

That's a top deal if we can get it.

Joey can be a bit flaky, but when he's "on" he's very dangerous and might provide at least a bit of the X factor we've missed since we lost Teddy to the Chooks

His x factor should win us those few xtra games to make the 8. When he's not on i don't think he will lose us games with shockers.
Sometimes he holds the ball too long or doesn't pass it not necessarily at the cost of a try

Wests have moved their focus onto BJ Leilua and Adam Doueihi and gaining scrutiny for not looking to be more flexible during negotiations.

When asked about spending on the open market, Maguire was adamant the Tigers will stand strong.

Good.

The club has copped a hiding over signing players for overs, and now they're copping the toe again for not wanting to pay overs.

No more wage thieves.

Read that. Article is from Paul Crawley he is mates with Wayne Bennett and does write positively about Madge. I’d say he knows the story closely.

Tigers can’t overpay for Douehi he’s a centre or 5/8. Not superior to even Corey Thompson at fullback. We need players but a high priced utility I’d leave with Souths unless the price comes down.

Lol. Hes way better than Corey.
Are you having a laugh?

Doueihi better in every single way.

Doesn’t look faster to me. He’s definitely less elusive. Doesn’t match Thompson for heart and effort (though few could). Doesn’t match him in support play as a consequence.

No one doubts Corey's passion and enthusiasm. He has filled the fullback role quite well but wing is his best position. In fact I rate him our first selected winger. Douehi brings with him ball playing and physical presence which we have lacked as well as a long distance kicking game.

The point isn't that he's necessarily better than Doueihi, and I didn't say he was. I pointed out some positives in Thompson. People seem to refuse to see any positives in our current players. It's all just kicking the crap out of them and saying they offer absolutely nothing. It's a ridiculous grass is always greener mentality.

Please read what I wrote again. My comments were limited to Thompson and Douehi. I wrote favourably about Thompson, offering the opinion that he is our first choice winger . Perhaps you need to stop circling the wagons.

So Doueihi wants a 4 year deal..what does he think he is a superstar....pass

Prob thought he was gonna have a lengthy career at souths.
And that's no longer an option.

Looking for a long term career, can u blame him?
This is gonna work its self out.

I read what you wrote the first time, I know you said positive things about Thompson, which is why I plainly wasn't including you in the category of "people" who can't say anything positive about our players.

Why aren’t options a thing in NRL? Like a 4 year deal with a team option at end of the 3rd. That way the player gets his security and the team gets an out. If he’s good enough he will get the 4th year. Also it can be a point of negotiating if he’s really good

I don’t know if you want a 6”5 fullback running at pace trying to clean up grubbers either

Well good news is Toupou is a winger.

[Hooper warning]

I read the article, thought to myself "I've already read half of these comments before", looked up to the author - Pooper himself.

What a punchable human he is.

Well it can only go up from last year haha

You can’t hold it against him for trying. He only wants the best possible deal for himself. He has learned a lesson already. His current back ended deal places him in a strong position.

Agree, however we can’t seem to find the right balance. We’ve paid overs for players who sit on fat contracts and don’t end up performing or we take the hard stance and end up not signing anyone at all!

So if Paul Crawley is on the money and we don’t sign AD, understanding that we are most likely to start with Corey at the back for 2020, does anybody know of a quality fullback that is either in reserves or whose contract is due? And who would you buy?

I know of Sean Meaney and Bubba Kennedy
