On Sky News this morning they reported that the Sharks will have to rest Dugan for the season due to chronic arthritis in his knees from playing league and will need surgery that will keep him out for the season .. Sharks trying to plant a seed here for the NRL so they can then pension him off .. !!

That's awesome

Around 800k on their books that hopefully they can't get rid of

Their only option looks to be medical retirement as no other club would surely even want him for free

And hopefully there is no medical retirement approval

Will be interesting to see what happens here. Like us, I don't think the Sharks are one of the NRL's most favourite clubs.

NRL approved it though. On what basis, I have no idea.


Ramien’s contract might not be registered by the NRL yet.
Everyone knows he has signed, but no one knows if the contract is registered.

I thought I heard that they still to need to loose a player With significant $s, before 30/06. And then they still need to upgrade extend Xerri. So yep they could be classified as bit of (dear I say) basket case.

Sharkies would have to be cap compliant before Ramien can take the field Dugan problems not helping and they are trying to extend Xerri on big $$$$ also Sharkies could be in deep Kafka.

They still have a wealth of great backline players though

They do

Xerri though by all reports won't be there for much longer though

Knocked back an extension already

If they had some of Dugans money to throw at him they may be able to convince him to stay

Yeah he is hot and cold but his hot is better then anything any of our backs can do, plus he gives us some much needed size. I would also think playing alongside his brother would bring out the best in him

Personally think he is a dope - always good to give away at least 3 penalties per game and he is already 28. Not so much size we need in the centre, it is speed. We have a very good slowish centre in Momo, don't need a bookend imo.

He always attracts 2 or three defenders that's what made Lepana so dangerous
If he can do that with Nofoluma we may have something there
Both players can bust tackles and it would give us a dangerous edge to go to
Something we haven't had for a while
**Leluma** sounds just as good to me

What do people think of bring Duggan to the tigers, but only if the sharks pay at least 1/2 of his current salary . He can cover , wing , center , fullback, he is injury pron but he can also be a match winner, would be a good buy if we got him cheap me thinks.

He wouldn't be a good buy if he gave us the 950k and himself.

He is an absolute dud, with dud knees and a dud brain.

That’s a bit harsh mate, his body may have had enough but no need to insult his intelligence or him as a person, he may have made mistakes in his early years, that’s only natural, we all have/did/will.
I speak with him often and he is a really nice guy, he may not be a tiger but no doubt I’ll be there to support him, life after footy can be tough, I wish him all the best with whatever happens.

It’s a gut wrenching feeling when one stops playing. We should never add to that by verbally throwing players on the scrap heap in their relative youth.
