Mbye killed it at fullback for us when he first joined the club, he was one of the best for those 9 games. Don’t know why he struggled there last year but I rated him at centre, strong in defence, ran hard, good passing and hits holes.

I hope the Grant deal happens so he’s not stuck in another new position at hooker

I doubt he get stuck there now that Reynolds has a green light.

I’m worried about Reynolds there too though ? I think Grant is still the best option. Maybe even Billy Walters just because he knows how to defend better than Reynolds

Mbye the only Tiger playing Origin. So whatever you think of him, selectors have him in the Top 40 or so players in the comp.

I am not sure I agree. While he was picked, I think he benefited from a lack of depth in QLD last year. I think if Australia were to have an injury crisis, they would go well outside the list of origin players before Mbye is even considered.

Yeah, it also ignores players that arnt qlders or NSWmen. He's no where near top 40.

He's like a crappier version of Kurt Gidley

Are you kidding Mbye's better than gidley ever was. Never understood the love for him

We are in big trouble if JR is our starting no nine, his D/H service is terrible

Apparently it’s where he’s been training.

I don’t think Grant is a certain starter if he signs.

The QLD selectors have him in the top 18 of QLDers. I’m looking forward to Moses having an injury free season.

I think it’s more his utility value that gets him picked. I don’t think he’d be the number 1 or even number 2 choice in any position but he gives you cover across 1-7 and 9 from the bench.

The modern game really needs players of the quality of Mbye, his utility value should not be underestimated,I definitely rate him and injury free will give us plenty to cheer about this year...

I agree, Maybe fired up and looked great in those 9 games at fullback the first year but last year he was ready for the glue factory and I don’t believe he is a good enough talker to be captain - Benji deserves the solo captaincy as I don’t know what Mbye can offer when the going gets tough behind the goal posts.
I hope Grant is as good as the wraps on him.

I think he goes straight to 9. He’s not coming here to play CC and he’d be the only specialist hooker we’ve got. Reynolds is not a dummy half, we’re in big trouble if he’s playing there.

He was injured all last year with an MCL.....judge him on his efforts in 2020

Wow we are all armchair Generals here guys , lets put our trust in madge and the boys , and i mean all of them , enough with bagging out our own and lets cheer the boys on

Mbye cops it here alot. Whatever position he has played for us he has been bloody good at. No crying or spitting the dummy - he gets on with it and leads by example. I’m glad he is with us and hope he gets an injury free run for us. We missed him last year.

When Mbye gives it his all he is one of the best players going around.
Problem is those games are few and far between, Lets hope he is more consistent & injury free this year.

I think everyone keep talking about Mbye because of his salary and the expectations that come with it.. If he was on 400-500k everyone would be saying he is a great player that can cover a few positions and would be happy to resign him after his contract..

I for one think he is a very good player but not a top dollar player.
Its not his fault he got a great deal and paid overs as we would all take the money if offered ourselves ..

What he does bring to the club is not just on field as he is a player that is never in trouble off the field, very polite mannered and represents the Club to the highest level.

Just my say... Play on

Mbye was fantastic for us before his injury, so here’s hoping his recovered his full fitness leading into round 1...

Like all WTs fans I watch all our games either on tv or at the the ground. At the ground I've always noticed Mbye hitting hard in defence and reading the play well. On tv I hardly noticed him. Maybe just the games I go to but he seems better defensively than most nrl players and average in attack. Injuries may have stifled him in 2019
