*Quade Cooper’s potential NRL move is gaining momentum after a premiership-winning coach reached out to the former Wallabies star’s manager about his availability.*
Quade Cooper could be a shock signing for Wests Tigers as NRL teams begin to plot the rest of their COVID-19 interrupted season.
Tigers coach Michael Maguire called Cooper’s manager Khoder Nasser on Thursday to ask about his availability and was buoyed by the response.
Cooper is currently signed with Japanese rugby team Kintetsu but revealed earlier this week it would be the chance to fulfil a dream if he could secure a short term contract in the NRL.
It is believed Kintetsu is not against the idea and, with Cooper stranded in Brisbane because of the lockdown, it would allow him to maintain match fitness while the Japanese competition is suspended.
Maguire also got the latest on Sonny Bill Williams’ availability for the Kiwis after his recent knee operation.
Maguire is also New Zealand’s national coach.

Does anyone seriously believe this story? I’m not saying Madge didn’t make a call but the rest of it is embellished journalism. Cooper would do nothing to get us closer to a gf in the next 3 years.imo

Whose said anything about 3 years? The talk is for this year. I can’t see it happening. Also,I like how when I googled Quade Cooper, a link to an article comes up that says “Wests Tigers move to sign Quade Cooper, launch SBW inquiry”. Yet in copy and paste above, it says Maguire was looking into his availability for the Kiwi’s. So much misleading in that heading it ought to be a crime.

Last one I recall was a Sevens guy we signed a few seasons back, played a few reserve grade games without any real distinction then went back to Rugby and represented Australia in international Rugby Sevens. Quade might be good for a short term deal but he's no spring chicken any more.
