Shame we missed out on Zac Lomax. Only decent St George player worth taking. Sailor did show some promise but still has a long way to go.

Completely agree. There are a few on here who dont rate him but imo he is a quality young player who will only improve with a decent coach

Mbye is from QLD. With Boyd retiring maybe sell Mbye experience to Broncos and swap with Pangai Jnr. Win/win

I see a comment like this and I just think of Homer trying to buy Lisa's rock.

There are some fans on here suggesting we drop Benji for Madden! I have only seen Madden play 3 or 4 times and in my view he wasn’t anything special in any aspect of the game (including goal kicking). Putting him in the same sentence as Benji is ridiculous. I’ll be surprised if we even keep him.
On another point, our young pack might seem like they have potential, but the games we have lost disappointingly have not been because of our halves, but because our forwards have been convincingly dominated. We have no real leader in the pack, not enough guys who can actually bust tackles or get over the ad line, no genuine ball playing forwards or even guys who can consistently offload. The majority of our pack are one out, vanilla flavoured and very predictable. Until they can poke their bodies through and get a roll on down field our halves and backs will never look good no matter who we have!!

Madden's game against the Panthers in the trial was quite impressive. I thought his kicking was good, his ability to get repeats sets excellent and the way he directed the team around the field fine. For a young player he did well.

Matty Johns said," a young half is just trying to survive first grade for the first 30 games, it is not until 60 games until there is a rapid rise in performance", there are exceptions of course, some like Cleary are able to do it very early, but what about Brooks, he is 150 games deep

I have been a brooks fan but enough is enough... I like the idea of him having a go at 6 and if he goes well I say we go out and try and buy a top quality 7... problem is they is not many out there :man-shrugging:

Brooks played well for the first few games this year. What has been directed towards him imo is misplaced. He is an
NRL quality half and any number of clubs would pick him up if available. Trouble with Cleary, there isn't one around when you need one. Some of the names put up on this forum such as Sezer and some other NMN are laughable. Madden looks a great little prospect who should form a good combination with Brooks.

Sezer was quite good last year, plus he is a goal kicker, got to within a few bad calls of being a premiership winning halfback, he has Brooks and Benji covered

Sezer is competent and a good kicker general play and goal kicking. He’s not going to create much at all. A good low cost signing however, unless Brooks turns into a dominating 70 touch a game half it will make minimal difference.

He’s got a bit of that Gasnier flare about him. Great feet but more of a power game compared to Mark.

He’ll develop nicely into one of the top centres for sure.

Big boy tears we couldn’t land him.

Mitchell Aubusson played 5/8 for Roosters a few times last year, Roosters won the comp. Aubusson is better than Cleary. Sign him up, your logic is flawless.

Mmbye is more of a 14 than reynolds he can cover 1,3,4,6,7,9 and wing if he had to

Now that's a "Jack of all trades and master of none" if I have ever seen one

He’s not even really a “Jack of all trades” for that matter.

That’s the worst comparison ever?

There’s a difference between filling in due to injury and being the general organiser/playmaker of a team that made a Grand Final

Sezer was part time, he battled with Sam Williams for the spot. Every team has some ordinary players, if the team wins the GF it does not suddenly make the ordinary players brilliant.

Josh Hodson was far more important as their controlling player and their creative player.

Actually Sezer was injured for a bit last year, and the form of Canberra didn’t really warrant him to be recalled for a bit. Still helped guide them through to the big one during the finals

Aubusson played one game in the halves genius, but carry on
