People getting excited about paying half of Mbyes salary to play elsewhere need to realise that we need to buy a more effective player than him for $400K otherwise we are in the same or worse position.

In all seriousness I don’t see a negative towards letting him go to titans. Even if that money is split up to keep some of our current boys or sign a young guy it’s worth it. Best case scenario it goes towards a top level player.


If that $400K is split up to increase other salaries, you still need to sign a new player to the roster which in minimum is still around $100K. I cant see how it significantly strengthens our roster or relieves cap pressure.

Madge will be happy to sign another young fella if he needs to.

We'd be silly not to look at Pangai seriously. He's got gamebreaking potential even if he is a flog. Madge is the kind of coach who could straighten him up, Siebold was never going to be that guy judging by the disaster situation the Broncos are in now.

Can’t say I rate either of them to be honest. Whatever winger plays outside Aitken will score 2 tries all season. Evans maybe could’ve gone okay here but it doesn’t seem like we’re too focused on props at the moment unless they’re a big name

Personally think Aitkens is an awesome running centre unfortunately he’s been McGregor-fied. He’s a deceptively strong one on one defender aswell and think he’d flourish under some proper coaching

He is an absolute ball hog and pathetic defender. Might be worth a cc contract, certainly not NRL.

AND the other 12 games this year he wouldn't have totaled those stats.

If we can't do better than Aitkens, we should keep the money in our pocket.

Yep, seems to be things happening out there... hope we haven’t fallen asleep at the wheel.

No one wanted to sign Aitken or I could say Kane Evans either... But as soon as someone else signs them... Oh they are signing everyone (We don't want them, we have better)

We’ve signed one player this year who everyone had to google to see who he actually was. Our recruitment is reactive at best.

I thought Harry Grant was smart and innovative.

We got him for one year. He’s not staying. And we’re still not in finals contention.

He’s not a signing, he’s a loan player. He’s not part of building a squad. If he was here for the next few years would be great but he’s not.

It’s a 1 year signing essentially. We improved a lot with him playing, it was a good move that we really needed.

Don’t stress too much about recruitment mate, I’m sure the club is making plenty of moves behind the scenes just because there’s no rumours doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

I am terrified of our recruitment.

Me too and we’ve got every right to feel that way it’s been horrible for a decade, I just try not to worry about it too much during the season. I’ll wait until the footy is over to stres about it ?

I love your optimism, but Liddle debuted in 2016 and has played 38 games, hardly bankable, and all the signing suggestions you say are nuffies or we have better, I find this hard to believe, Aitkin is a better centre than any we have, TPJ is a loose cannon but better than we have, who exactly should we sign

I think Liddle is terrific, Simpkin has not played ONE game of NRL as yet,
we'll see how his body stands up to the rigors of NRL once he starts
playing in it. Grant has played what, 10 games and has his first injury and
out for 4 weeks. Playing guys too early is fraught with danger in my opinion

Personally I would go for Welch rather than TPG (he is a big risk, a risk that
we don't need to take). Aitkin is not what we need, I don't care what his stats
against the Rorters someone posted are. He hogs the ball, his winger starves
of position and his defence is pathetic. Better than what we have, hardly. I
prefer Momo and Talau in the centre over him, try for Staggs (pipedream but
worth a shot). Aitkin is a typical signing that Cleary would have made when
with us - don't need it 851.

You might be on to something there, a blindspot perhaps.
A 17 year old Jake playing U/18 Queensland Cup last year, he played for Wests earlier this year before it was cancelled, I think he could handle the grind of NRL, and so do many good judges.

I have never seen in play NRL - he is just potential and I know what you think of potential Avo.

I've heard you say you are done with potential and that's on players who have played a number
of games in the NRL.
