Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We have Brooks, Reynolds, Walters, Madden, Benji , Mbye and AD and we have Cameroux comming through. So why would we pay for another unproven half?

Because Brooks, Reynolds, Walters, Benji and Mbye are rubbish AD isn't a half and Madden is wishful thinking.

That is your opinion, i do not think their rubbish by a long way, however only Benji is off contract next year, and can you name a halve that is available next year, that would walk into our side. What we need is a fullback and some speed out wide, and if this player could kick goals would be a bonus.

Halfback should be the priority,I really hope the Jackson Hastings rumour is true

Im thinking Hastings is by far the best thats out there available

Notice local super rugby teams have to cut back their salary cap next year by $1mill....Koro anyone?
Not gonna be many Euro or Japa opportunities that will pay him $500k +
Hes lost a little pace but is a lot smarter ..and proven in NRL
More chance of landing him than JAD,tho Storm also searching for wingers

Sign him for a year on good winger money with a club option for future years that include significant upgrades.

If he shows he is a fullback, take up the option, if not renegotiate

Yeah, I'm not a fan of players unproven in a position saying they want to be signed as a "Fullback" for example. They need to earn that position and playing a certain position when younger doesn't count.

Sounds like Latrine has been in his ear to me.

Sounds like he wants a pay rise. In view of a couple of the overpaid prima donnas we have here, I've no issue paying a proven match winning SOO and Origin rep.

Maybe but I wouldn't be paying him FB money when he is a winger.

He would have to earn FB for mine (in cc) or we would end up with another Latrine (a centre trying to play FB).

How much would you pay him (to play wing)?

650k max.

Can’t wrap my head around how anyone wouldn’t want Josh Addo-Carr at the club.... would be such a big signing, very likeable guy around the league too so could help with attracting big name talent also

The future of Melbourne Storm’s Origin and Kangaroos winger Josh Addo-Carr will be sorted out in the next couple of weeks. It looks a two-horse race between the two sides that played yesterday – the Canterbury Bulldogs and the Wests Tigers.

From Buzz Rothfield this morning. He’s a moron but his mail is normally pretty decent.

Here's a comparison, Joey Leilua whom hasn't been a good buy to date would be on $550k or more?

Who would agree that JAC is a far superior player and deserves to be renumerated at a higher rate?

Absolutely. JAC is an elite player. Joey Leilua isn’t.

Nofo is top 4 in tries, line breaks and tackle breaks, the Fox isn't top 10.

I don’t care I’d swap Nofo for Fox any day of the week.

For what, less tries, line breaks and tackle breaks? On more money? He's a good player, no doubt, but he's not what the Tigers need.

I can see this being a dud signing as well. We can cover our wings but we need halves and/or a fullback.

If he makes it as a fullback great but there is a high probability that move fails. Pay him as a quality winger if that makes sense. Not as a hail mary let's hope he makes it as a fullback.

He might do the job there and that would be great but we need to be careful. How many marquee signings work out for us ?

Dogs have Cotric, Hopoate, Meaney, Reamis Smith, DWZ, Averillo. That would be the most illogical use of the cap. I can see Madge going after DWZ to be honest.

Why do we not go after Adkins from Penrith , he is behind Edwards , Adkins is a very tidy fullback and had great pace , would be cheap as well .

In other words his manager is scouring for other bidders.

Yeah I reckon you are on the money there - we either get JAC or the DWZ slops should he sign with the Bulldogs.

DWZ would work very nicely on the left wing if the Dogs were happy to cover some of his salary. JAC would be fine too. Though I suspect it might end up being DWZ going to the Storm and JAC to the Dogs.

They spent big money on Cotric too. It wouldn’t be smart for them to throw more money at a quality winger when they have so many other glaring issues, but it’s bulldogs so I wouldn’t put it past them.

Brooks played well yesterday. He did everything he could to get the team home.

I'd start pointing the finger at the two backs on the right extremity who' be lucky to catch a cold in defence. That was one of the most disgraceful defensive displays I have seen.
