Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Brooks' field goal was great and defensively he was good. I would hardly say he played 'well' though. We didn't really look likely going down the left edge at all and his kicking game was poor. As bad as our right edge is defensively, it's also one of the best in attack too so it goes both ways.

Kicking game poor? His cross field kick was pin point. His chip to nearly put Benji over was sublime. One of his bombs provided Mbye the opportunity to score but no one bothered to back. His other bombs allowed team mates the opportunity to compete as per Lomax, but no one bothered. And he made a try saving tackle, set up a try and kicked us home to victory. So yes he played well.

Had Leilua and Nofoaluma tackled, we would have won comfortably.

The future of Melbourne Storm’s Origin and Kangaroos winger Josh Addo-Carr will be sorted out in the next couple of weeks. It looks a two-horse race between the two sides that played yesterday – the Canterbury Bulldogs and the Wests Tigers.

From Buzz Rothfield this morning. He’s a moron but his mail is normally pretty decent.

Buzz on BSB mentioned we are desperately trying to move on a player to fit him in.
Mentioned squad numbers more so than cap space.
It was said in a way that it seems both parties are keen on the signing.

Our right edge comes down to Benji and Garner. They turn in too often then it’s a chain reaction.
The try Nofa let in the corner if he doesn’t come in Lafai walks over. It’s a team issue on the right Nofa is not great defensively by any stretch but his inside men let him down.

First try Nofoaluma came in on Leilua's man. There was no need and it was laughable it was so kindergarten. Fitter and Sterling didn't hold back either.

Maybe they don’t want too many outside backs at the club. I get the feeling Melbourne might hang onto Momers, or maybe we will try move on one of our depth outside backs players like Bradley.

That doesn't make sense. Considering it's for next year you just rearrange your top 30 to fit him in. We have 10 or so players off contract so spots are available.

I remember Latrell was between us and Cowboys. Then Souths swooped.

I just hope if we get him we make good use of him. BJ hardly sees any ball, and the same can be said for Talau which is likely the position he'd be playing.

DWZ would work very nicely on the left wing if the Dogs were happy to cover some of his salary. JAC would be fine too. Though I suspect it might end up being DWZ going to the Storm and JAC to the Dogs.

I'd prefer DWZ and money in the bank for a spine player rather than JAC. I want to avoid JAC like the plague on fullback money.

We have 25 signed up for next year, including 4 development players from this year and Momers.

We are talking of extending McIntyre and Eisenhuth, which makes 27 with only 3 vacancies to fill.

Not so much scope to upgrade the squad as many people think. We will have the capacity to significantly upgrade the squad for 2022.

Looking forward to everyone thinking we’re getting JAC only for the NRL to rush through an Ethan Lowe medical retirement that allows Souths to sign him for half our offer after he visits Rustys farm

We seem to have painted ourselves in a corner with these development signings. Makes sense for Simpkin to come into the top 30 but Cini and Bradley look like wasted spots given they don't look close to first grade. Madden as well, unsure where he fits given all the halves we already have.

Russell will take JAC for a weekend away and suddenly he’ll take an 80% pay cut

Can thank Ivan for all those

1. What we are lacking is a proper damaging hard running prop or backrower .. someone with real mongrel in them .. someone who puts fear into the opposition and makes them think twice when defending against .. and be worried when they are running at us. Having a player like this in our pack will help and lift our young pack into a real first grade pack.

2. We need a half or 5/8 who can lead our team around the park .. someone who can organise our current lost team. Someone who can steer our side to victory when we are leading by 20+ points .. !!

3. A full back who is safe under the high ball, who is fast and can chime into the back line and cause havoc every time they run the ball. This person need to be an organiser from the back who can read the general play in both defence and attack.

4. A reliable goal kicker .. !!

Not to hard to ask for is it ..

Some of them have been good, some just a waste. You have to be really certain your development players will kick on otherwise you’re stuck with them in your top 30 for a year.

Madge seems to be only picking pretty highly rated kids as his development players. Maybe next year we will have less of them. I like the system though it’s a great way to get young kids with potential at your club and training with the top squad

Here's a comparison, Joey Leilua whom hasn't been a good buy to date would be on $550k or more?

Who would agree that JAC is a far superior player and deserves to be renumerated at a higher rate?

Absolutely. JAC is an elite player. Joey Leilua isn’t.

Nofo is top 4 in tries, line breaks and tackle breaks, the Fox isn't top 10.

What about the important one
Missed tackles

In other words his manager is scouring for other bidders.

JAC is a class winger - nail him now.
