Doueihi would be good at 5/8 as he has a big body and can defend. I would throw everything at Burton to be half and Staines the fullback

I’m still not seeing what everyone see’s in Doueihi .. ?? .. the guy to me is a safe numpty .. !!, and I don’t think Burton is our answer either.
I’m ok on the idea Charlie Staines he’s a fullback/winger/centre who can goal kick.

Not too many teams out there in need of replacing BOTH haves... tall order for Madge.
Let's face it - Brooks is never going to get us anywhere no matter who is next to him... we've sat on a fizzer for 6 years.
Benji and Grub are both past their best and offer very little. (Benji the rare glimpse of magic and Grub his overbaked enthusiasm).
Who knows how our current team would go if we had one competent half running the show, let alone two.
Here's hoping the rumours of Grub going to SL happens and Benji retires.
Only one left to get rid of then... and he has to go.

I don't think we can replace both at once.

Agree.
I don't know if people are just being a little combatative but there are other issues of urgency including securing another front and back rower, but IMO Benji's replacement takes priority.
I'd even suggest employing an attacking coach to help the team with their cohesion and adaptability.
The team's excelling at the back end of the year have monstrous yet mobile packs and lots of strike in their squads. Therefore, I think we need to fill in some gaps firstly.
It's incomprehensible to even suggest a complete gutting - as we don't exactly have Nick Politis' cheque book or the Roosters accountant at our disposal. Everyone knows we're struggling to move on the overpaid players.

I've been suggesting an attack minded assistant for months.

These are the decisions that change a teams fortunes , replacing both halves would be a master stroke everything should be thrown at replacing the halves ! Just think about the prospects next season .... if you think this year is bad .

Does the seeming lack of prioritisation of buying a half indicate there is none suitable available, or a plan to move a current player there?

There is definately a plan for a current player to move into the halves.

He's a massive downgrade as is Hastings. NMN

To each their own opinion but in my opinion Hastings / Sezer would be an upgrade on Brooks. But havaing said that I'd happily consider any option other than Brooks at 7. I think Madden deserves a shot now- especially if other clubs are sniffing around at him- how are we to know if he has possibility f we dont try him?

Hastings and Sezer are in England for a reason. Ricky needed a half and by passed both to go with George Williams. Why? Other clubs need halves and give these two a miss.

Fair enough. Im not saying their great halves, but they are better halves, with better records than Brooks. As previously said, I'm not against other player options being considered, I just think the Brooks option at 7 has run its course. I know actually finding a good halfback is a difficult ask- but at least WT should be looking real hard for next season.

Sezer got the Raiders to a GF last season, Let's see if George can do the same.

While the pitch forks are out and the Brooks effigy burning is about to fire up, how do you feel about the forwards being rolled down the middle?

still our biggest weakness also halves lol

I'm not trying to be funny but how does this alone overturn our fortunes?
Our misfortunes are deeper than an halves issue.
As poor as our halves have been this year, our bench selections have caused more detriment to our games and their outcomes. Our pack is often mismatched in size and dominated. Plus their tackling(and wrestling techniques) are of no help either.

This is what I don't get either, some are quick to call out certain players yet won't say boo about others not their fulfilling their role.

Assuming Utoikamanu is as good as advertised and Blore comes back into the picture, our pack is honestly ok. It's still a very young pack; Garner is actually the oldest and he isn't even 25 yet. I really like Hetherington and I think he'd be a good buy, but he wouldn't be essential. Apart from Garner I don't think there's too much upgrading which needs to be done.

Our backline if we get Addo-Carr and play him on the wing is fine too. No need to move Doueihi from FB.
To me it's just the halves that need to be fixed. We need two new ones.

1. Doueihi
2. Nofoaluma
3. Leilua
4. Talau
5. Addo-Carr
6.
7.
8. Aloiai
9. Liddle
10. Musgrove
11. Garner
12. Leilua
13. Twal

14. Mikaele
15. Utoikamanu
16. Blore
17. Mbye/McINtyre

Two decent halves and that's a top 8 side. Two crap halves and it's a bottom 8 side.

Bevan French has been playing in the halves a bit for Wigan. Was never a big fan of French, but he looks pretty good as a 5/8.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IlIwM4aUMnI

French is a reserve grade standard player.

So we have a 3 year offer in front of him?

I would be focusing on Ado-Carr, Hastings into our backline be it wing or centre. If we can't then get Stains and Burton across from Penrith

Moving on Reynolds, Retiring Benji

Mbye either 14 or gone. I think he would be a great 14 and a great back up back who can play literally anywhere when we get injuries both in game and in season.

In the forwards we bring in Afoa as our 6th prop in the squad.

Then we need more backrow talent to fill that right side spot and that is where I'm struggling. We need someone with great defence as a priority and pron an experienced player given we are loosing Lawrence, ET, mcQueen from the backrow and Benji and Reynolds in the backs .

A variety of options at existing clubs - Procter and TPJ being the best for mine

You can't afford to have a 14 on the best part of $1m per year

He's gonna be here on that ridiculous salary anyway, doesn't really matter too much whether he's a bench player or a starter IMO. He's a dud wherever he takes the field. Give him a shot at 6 or 7, we've got bugger-all to lose now.
