Imagine how mad everyone would be if he acted like he’s a great player and does nothing wrong? He’s holding himself accountable like Madge wants and is working on it. Doesn’t mean he’s ever gonna come good he’s an average player but at least he can own it.
Better than Reynolds who laughs about articles of him being overpaid on Twitter when he’s been average as well

what to do with veteran favourite son Benj Marshall, who is off contract but has a deal on the table.
lol
If this is true Madge is definitely not the coach to get us out of this hole.
Benji has absolutely nothing to gain from not announcing his retirement, he could get a proper send off, he wants to play again no risk.
I think he's trying to stroke his ego with 1 more season. Gunning for the most capped player no.1 spot.
1 more season would do it :joy: :joy: :grimacing: :grimacing:
**Most first grade matches for Wests Tigers**:
Robbie Farah - 277
Benji Marshall - 252
Chris Lawrence - 250
Chris Heighington - 201
John Skandalis - 185
Dene Halatau - 180
Keith Galloway - 173
Liam Fulton - 162
Bryce Gibbs - 155
Todd Payten - 151
Ben Galea - 150
That list is pretty impressive with players and most won the 2005 premiership, long term stable team does wonders with playing finals.
Hopefully Benji realizes that his best playing days are over but i can understand this fact he is on much less $ than most to help our cap and might think the Tigers are obligated to give hom another year.
***Rowdy was also on peanuts, he left with dignity***, and he is a one club legend, we owe Benji nothing
After he ran to the media to get another contract. Something Benji hasn’t done.

We have a host of player off contract:
Lawrence - Off contract and retiring
Taylor - Off contract, hard to see him being re-signed
Dylan Smith - Off contract, he won't be around
Seyfarth - Off contract, hard to see him being re-signed
Jennings - Off contract, no way he'll be re-signed given the club is actively looking for speed out wide
McQueen - Off contract, no way he'll be here next year
Marshall - Off contract, no idea whether he'll go around again but I reckon in Benji's mind he knows he's done and it's hard to see him lacing up the boots next year
Eisenhuth - Honest toiler who puts in but it''s hard to see him hanging around. We need more grunt in the middle
Clark - Off contract and unlikely to be here next year
McIntyre - Off contract and the only bloke in this group I'd re-sign, but he's needed for depth
That's 10 players off contract and I reckon we're likely to only keep 1. Plus the club won't stand in the way of the following if they get a deal elsewhere:
Reynolds
Packer
Mbye
Realistically it sounds like Reynolds has the best chance of picking up a deal in the UK. No one else is stupid enough to pick up the tab on Packer and Mbye.
Realistically we'll add some players to the development squad, up to 4 from what I've read on here. Sounds like Tyler Field, William Kei, Josh Rizk and someone else, maybe Camroux might be offered spots. Which means aside from Stefano, we will be in the market for a few players.
We've heard the likes of Saab, JAC, Bunty Afoa, Staines all being looked at. I think the key to an extent is Reynolds - move him on and we free up decent coin.
God i hope we sign Bunty
I've often in the recent past said to the Mrs can we either

The Wests Tigers have again failed to perform this season, and co-captain Moses Mbye believes Coach Michael Maguire is entitled to make changes.
Matt Logue
NCA NewsWire
AUGUST 25, 20203:21PM
Wests Tigers co-captain Moses Mbye believes coach Michael Maguire is entitled to clean out the inconsistent Tigers, saying you deserve to be under pressure if you are on big dollars and not performing.
Mbye’s frank take on the Tigers’ plight comes as Maguire looks to move on high earning players like Josh Reynolds, Chris McQueen and Russell Packer.
Reynolds has been linked to Super League clubs Wigan and Leeds despite having a season to run on his contract.
Mbye understands the difficulty and emotion of moving on contracted players but says Maguire must put the club’s success first.
“When you are a player on the higher end pay bracket, you get more scrutiny which is completely warranted, and I think that is fair,” Mbye said.
“When you are one of the higher paid players you need to be performing as one of the best players in the team and have some sort of influence on each game.
“Madge has got to look for what is best for the club, himself moving forward and where he is going to get results.”
Mbye has also been linked to leaving the Tigers despite having another two seasons remaining on his deal.
The Queensland representative recently distanced himself from reports that Wests would be willing to pay half his salary to facilitate a move to the Gold Coast.
Mbye wants to stay at the Tigers but he is open to a discussion with coach Maguire about his future, conceding he hasn’t been at his best in 2020.
“Personally, I haven’t been able to do that (perform consistently) as often as I’d like to and I’m not shying away from that,” he said.
“Madge hasn’t had that conversation with myself, but I’m sure if he needs to have that conversation he will do so.
“It (my form) is something that I’m working extremely hard on.
“But it (contracts) is something that normally comes about in clubs that are struggling and have a bit of a top-heavy salary cap.”
Mbye sees plenty of promise at the Tigers despite their inconsistent season.
It is why he would like to see out his deal to play a part in a successful rebuild of the joint-venture franchise.
“Of course, who doesn’t want to be part of a benchmark club,” he said.
“I got to experience that when I was at Canterbury and we has those really good years when we were one of the benchmark sides.
“You are hunted instead of hunting and it is a good spot to be in.
“That is certainly where we are trying to get to as a club here at the Tigers.”
The Tigers’ final chances appear over given they are four points outside the top eight with five rounds remaining, but Moses insists the players won’t give up.
This starts on Saturday when they take on competition leaders Penrith at Panthers Stadium.
“We are trying to stick tight as a group and not show our frustration too much and let it get in the way of our football,” he said.
“Our focus is on this week against Penrith and we need to start winning.
“This week is a good chance to get a big scalp and to get a bit of momentum off that.”

Tigers Break Finals Drought
28th August 2039
Daily Telegraph
Josh Coleman
He may be injured, but 54 year old Marshall still led by example, sitting on the bench throughout the Tiger's stirring come from behind win against a gutsy Raiders outfit.
Wests were eventually victorious, overcoming a 1-0 half time deficit to record a 2-1 victory against a 9-man Canberra side who were decimated by injury and controversial send-offs to 4 players.
After missing 6 penalties, fellow veteran and goal kicker Moses Mbye credited Marshall for the victory. "He came up to the sideline before the kick and just 'you can do it Mate, prove the doubters wrong'. I knew I couldn't miss then."
The Tigers are the first team to benefit from the NRL's controversial new finals system where 9 teams play it out in September.

Benji is trying for another contract no risk, he shouldn't have got one this year, his form is abysmal, look at the effort he put in his 250th game, he should have been dropped after that, but here we are 3 weeks later and he still makes the team
